as a man utd fan im a bit anxious about liverpool vs chelsea game tommorow and i have been thinking about that more than sex...which isnt normal for me. but does anyone think liverppol will just roll over? it makes sense rite they have nothing to play for really and would love to ruin united's title chances. any thoughts?

As a liverpool fan, I know for a fact we won't roll over, but it is true that less is at stake for us now, so that's just how it goes, I mean you have sunderland and stoke, not like they have much to play for either is it?

Just means as a Liverpool fan we won't actually care if we loose so it's win win

MU fan here too but I don't think Liverpool will roll over, they are too professional for that. The players will want to have a go at Chelsea simply because they are comptetitive young men plus some of them are internationals for different countries hoping to attend the World Cup in June so they'll want to put in a good performance to ensure their selection.

The only man who can possibly make a difference is Rafa Benitez in his team selection. Having said that, Torez is out and Liverpool will struggle against a rampant Chelsea side who have the scent of blood in their nostrils.

I think both Man U & Chelsea will win their remaining games and it simply wont matter, Chelsea get it by a point.

Juve are lining up so swoop for Rafa, will he take Torres too, not sure. Hope not, he's a class act and the Prem would miss his skills.

Think there's a chance Rafa could go, but it's not up to him if Torres follows, and I do truly believe he loves Liverpool, so would only play for Liverpool or Athletico now. Why would you want to go to the Italian League anyway? Its not that competetive...

It will all depend on who buys the club now it's up for sale, and what they want to do. Hopefully good things...

Fair point, but it was obvious to everyone that he was lying the whole time! Still Ronaldo wouldn't have gone to another English club, and baring in mind Torres already has a Spanish team he loves, then what league would he want to go to? He's already played in the best two leagues in the world.

Thing is, I can't see Liverpool never winning the title again so it doesn't really matter if Utd win this year, Liverpool will even it up again sometime.

We can't get rid of Rafa at the moment, we don't have the money to cancel his contract. Just pray for new owners as quick as possible, and hope they have some sense and lots and lots of cash

rafa got rid of class acts like robbie keane, bellamy crouch who are playing well for their respective teams. rafa's obviously lost touch with reality and cant bring out the best in players.. he needs to go or else liverppol will be fighting against relegation next season...and as a united fan i wouldnt mind them seeing them in the championship

What really gets me is this:

Hicks and Gillette buy the club but don't have enough money so get THEMSELVES in debt, but then put that debt onto the clubs head. They then proceed to make the club worse by not providing enough money for players, and by squabbling like little bitches in the papers... and then having made the club worse that it was when they bought it, they expect to sell it for FOUR times the amount that they bought it for!!! (there isn't even a pissed off enough smiley to put at the end of this!)

Hmmm, yes but a bit different. We've been some way behind you for some years (i.e. most of the Alec Ferguson years) so you have to just turn over what you already have, we need to improve vastly... and despite this you've still shelled out 30mil on Berba when he wanted it etc etc.

Rafa wanted Barry at 18mil, and was told it was too much. Not saying Rafa hasn't had any cash, as he has BUT you were the best in the league when you were bought.... and I do also believe that United were in the right position at the right time when the big big money came into football.

My money would be on Chelsea, Liverpool just have nothing to play for, virtually nothing, there is a very slim but more doubtful chance they could make the champions league, this alone may have their heads up, but it's more likely they will finish in europa, can't slip out of that position either now with Everton dropping points yesterday, could have done with a win for Everton.

After saying that, being knocked out of Europa might also have their heads up, but still don't fancy their chances.

Hmmm.. Steven Gerrard passes back to goalie from the halfway line and Drogba is there to collect it and slot it home... very suspect .. Liverpool rolled over, cos they sure weren't the same team who beat United 2-0 earlier in the season. Oh well, Chelski's title now then I guess. Roll on next season.

I'm 45 on Thursday, so that makes it 40 years I have supported United. I spent a long long time watching them lose season after season and even get relegated. I don't think I can be called a glory hunter, but then again, isn't any supporter of any team a glory hunter by default?

That's sooo cynical, we actually had the better of them until then... and its not the first time Gerrard's done that either, if my memory serves me right he's done it for Henry twice!

...and we've not been the same team that beat United earlier in the season for pretty much the whole season since then... but can't say I'm complaining about the result

..and a real man wouldn't care who or why someone supports their club

...but, as he stated. He has supported them for years, pre any glory what-so-ever. If he was my age and supoorted united then you might have had a point. Conversely, if he'd been a Liverpool supporter at that time, you may have had a point, but neither are true.

Me, I'm a liverpool fan, and I don't live there. In fact technically I came from smack bang next to Cobham where Chelsea train, shall I start goading about winning the league now?

I do. I also support Luton as I am from there, I follow Chelsea as I was born there, I live in Gateshead now so I go along to watch them when I can. So in real terms, I shouldn't be that disappointed if Chelsea win the title but I'd prefer it to be United.

"Pissed my self at all the glum manure fans. City will be the No1 club in Manchester. Supported by real fans not plastic wannabes from miles away! "

will that be the 'real' supporters who have been missing for the past 20 years?

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

The deterioration of relations in this thread is why I think football threads should be banned on here.

You have a point.

It seems to me that most ABU's (some actually claim to support a team) don't have much of an idea.

Any successful team will have their late followers, some of it is through glory seeking, some of it through following the underdog that isn't truly the underdog but the team that might knock the top dogs off top spot (a bit like City are experiencing at the moment), then they hang on to that team if and when they become successful.

Fact is, Man Utd (amongst other successful teams) have played some spectacular football in recent years, this of course will attract more fans.

Also, it is fact that during Liverpool's domination of English football that Man Utd actually had a bigger crowd. not a dig at Liverpool there, just pointing out that Man U was popular when Liverpool and Arsenal were the teams.

You obviously don't 'get' football banter. It's par for the course for rival supporters to wind each other up. I've seen fans chanting that their team is the best in the world even AFTER they know they've been relegated. It's a love that cannot be explained, a passion, a yearning even for one's team to win, and often, it's win at all costs. I know full well that whenever I mention I support Man Utd that the popular retort will be, 'Ah, another Manc who isn't a Manc.' It's nothing new for it to happen on here and I don't think ill of the people that have done it, it's just football banter.

Up the Red Devils! Best team in the world.
