Gordy the Gaffe has been instructed to play it very safe by Mandy the Dandy. His exact words were, "Gordon, under no circumstances should you speak."
Clegg has phoned David Dimbleby in a sweaty panic to inquire as to whether any unemployed female students from Birmingham will be present and if so can he hire five bodyguards.
Cam the MAN is cool, calm, collected and cannot wait to confront Clegg and Calamity Brown. |

i think in the future somethin like that may come into force with elections
the drive for all homes to have computer access etc it may be possible within the next election to vote online and the results published at a decent hour and able to track the amount of votes for each person and update them regularly !
or we could just have them in front of cowell and co lol!! x |

I always stop up with a few tinnies, bottle of wine and watch the results coming in. It can get a bit annoying when they get to 6am and say that a result can't be called cos some dopey twat in Cornwall can count properly and they're on their 28th recount.
Although with a hung parliament likely I think it will be obvious much earlier how it's going. And it's my b/day on the 6th so I'll be getting wankered anyway. |

they had that worry with postal votes and it never came to fruitition??
it would likely be done via national insurance number and other security checks like online banking etc do i do think it will come into force sometime in the near future after thorough checks x |

Right. I've got Clegg's measure now. I've not been able to pigeonhole the man and he's been a bit of an enigma so far, but now I've got him sussed.
His manifesto, and most of what he speaks about, is what he WANTS to do, not what he CAN do.
He taks about reducing the debt by immediately finding £15bn worth of savings.. but he's just given £2.5bn of that away to special needs schools, and he's been doing this all along. He's using this savings nest egg to buy services everywhere else but it means the deficit isn't tackled at all.
Another one, he's just mentioned.. £700 tax break, that comes out of the deficit fund too.. his sums just don't add up. |

well....watched thedebate last night....and this time it was actually more of a debate.
For me Gordon lost it at two points:
First...when he told us he would not be doing any deals with the conservatives...then looked at "Just Call Me Dave" and gave him one of his 'looks'...just like a 3 year old girl.
Secondly...his closing statement when that stupid grin got flashed at the camera again.
Cleggy saved us 15 billion then gave 5 billion of it away to fund other programs whilst saving all low to middle income earners 700 quid a year without telling us where he'd make all this money back
Even "Just Call Me Dave" seemed more uncomfortable this time, not sure any one of them came out of it well |

i bloody missed the debate as family decided to visit and i didnt run to lock the door quick enough!!
from what iv read in the papers today and dependin on what paper backing who its still looking too close to name a clear winner the tories appear to be countin their chickens before they have hatched, and lib dem seemed to have went a bit quiet and labour have shot themselves in the bloody foot by bringin tony blair back out of his coffin!!
im off for a look at the uk election website it seems to be the most accurate with no bias xx |

actually.... the funny thing is that is the thing I took out of it..... the final speech was one of defeat!
The interesting thing is which was will labour voters go... if any... will they bite the bullet and vote blue, or will they think the lib dems is a safer option....
The actual debate last night was interesting is that if the debate had been the other way around.... the general stuff first followed by the economy, then I think Clegg would have won.... Cameron for me took an absolute pasting on the Ecomonic issues!!
Clegg looked really uneasy on the immegration issue and that both parties called it an "amnasty" (by the way... just out of interest... that word is never used at all in the manifesto, it is fully describe, but it is interesting to see how mud sticks)
I think it will be a hung parliment next week.... with the conservatives having the largest number of seats... however if the tories do go in and have this "emergency budget" there is no way they win in another snap election! |

I hope its just not slick spin he's doing and means what he says, my heart says he does mean it as he speaks so passionately about what he's trying to do. He's a new breed of Tory and I don't see any of Thatcher's old guard conservatism in him at all. |

it will be interesting to see the backlash if the conservatives do give all there cronies the cut in inheritance tax, if they then which they will almost certainly do put up VAT....
like I said... could be the shortest run as PM if he tries to get his emergency budget thru with a minority administration...
I bet we will have another election by the end of the year.... if fact if i were the lib dems, I would almost be tempted to let the tories try and slash everything....... and then when it starts to bite and people realise... then put in a vote of no confidence |

im socialist lol!! new labour are tories in cheaper suits tories are the friends of the capitalist not the worker and the lib dems want change but struggle to get the backing!
iv voted labour once, when it was tony blair and things can only get better which they did.... but he was still flier than the devil!
for the working man/woman labour has done a lot to try and repair some of the damage of thatcher and co but they had chance to change some of the policies but didnt and this war etc cant blame them for recession we knew it was comin and buried our heads.
cameron i feel will destroy the economic recovery the little that we have , and i fear for schools, public services, my education etc and for the ordinary working man or woman but will say this much i can see union membership increasing and the trade union act being ripped to shreds ......

I don't understand where this beilief everyone has that the Tories will give the rich an inheritance tax break is coming from???
Cameron said last night that the threshold will be raised to £1m, which to my mind means nobody will pay inheritance tax until it hits that level. He specifically stated that ONLY millionaires should pay inheritance tax. |

but it actually a combination of things... plus cut the tax rates in corperation and small business's, plus the potential abolishion of the 50p tax rate (We do not regard the new 50p tax rate as a permanent feature of the tax system - straight from the manifesto) means that the richest will get richer.... |

But isn't a true democracy based upon equality for all?
Let's take a hypothetical siuation...
You win £10m on the lottery but you are told that any earnings you make on it are subject to 50p in the £ rate of tax. You would look for ways of minimising that tax liability as much as you could - you'd be mad not to, so why should the rich just roll over and take it? We all aspire to earn more than we currently earn, we all expect or want a pay rise each year, we all want to be wealthier than we are. What makes us different from those that already have apart from the fact that they already have it?
I do think they should pay a higher rate of tax above a certain level else we'd never be able to afford essential services for all - NHS, education etc. I don't think it's fair to castigate th e rich for being rich though - it smacks of jealousy and spite, when given the chance, we'd all happily swap places with them. |

the fact is that the top millionaires in this country, can afford the best accountants etc to find every dodge going so they dont pay tax you very rarely here of corporate crime etc but the wee wumman doon the street that takes ironin in to stretch here benefit money out would be in every paper for her fraud that probably isnt a great amount but enough to get her a jail sentence cause she cant afford the best of lawyers etc im not advocatin welfare fraud but its takin money from the government either way!
remember the tories gave us the free phone to report thy neighbour, but a charging line for welfare advice!!xx |

Regardless of what any of the party leaders promise they will do and how they want to represent each and every person in this country … political parties will be tempted to scratch the backs of those who line their pockets.
The reason the Tories will never rob the rich to feed the poor is…. it’s the rich who fund the Conservative party.
Why shouldn’t those who are way more than comfortable contribute a bit more than those who struggle to manage? Why shouldn’t those who have more than they need pay a bit more than those who need all they can get? Isn’t that just the taxation version of humanity, civilisation and a caring society?
Never be fooled into thinking the Conservatives will put the good of the working man before the greed of the wealthy… the wealthy who can afford to make a personal donation of 100’s of 1000’s to a political party and not care if there are cuts in service, healthcare and education, because they pay for all they need privately anyway.
Bankers and the top bosses of UK industry have had massive bonuses for decades… but which party scrapped the 99p in the £1 taxation band for the wealthiest top earners? The 99p tax band was the reason the bonuses were so high, yet the bonuses didn’t reduce after the taxation band was removed. They scrapped the band to line the pockets of those who funded the party … and who did they hit with the cuts to pay for it?
The wealthy may not own the Conservatives or even be their employer…. but if a posh bloke came around your house every year and gave you a sack full of money, would you kick him in the nuts?

...and if you were a millionaire you'd do exactly the same to protect your wealth. Probably more so coming from a working class background like I do also.
I think Cameron is trying to redress the balance so that we are more equal than we are now but to do that you have to accept the equality means equality for all and the rich will be better off for it, but then we should be too. He's going to raise the level of inheritance tax so that the homes that our parents slave all their working lives to pay for won't end up in th taxman's pocket when they pass on. But he's capped it at £1m so that the rich will still have to pay. That's a good thing isn't it? I doubt the wealthy would agree with me though. The wealthy also pay higher stamp duty than anyone else when they buy and sell houses, they pay capital gains tax on those properties as well as on any investments they own. I feel that in the balance of things they do pay a lot more because of their status but those at the lower end feel the taxex imposed a lot more because we have limited incomes. I know for sure that if we forced a tax rate of 75p-80p for the wealthy they'd simply bugger off somewhere else taking their money with them (along with any businesses they own which puts people out of work). |

goin by house prices about here i wont have much to worry about as the most expensive one i have seen was just over a quarter of a million so im sure many people are the same!
the vat increase that will come if they get in will once again, hit the poorest the hardest, as will the inevitable cuts in benefits, tax credits etc
and dont be fooled with the 2 yr freeze on council tax the big brother of the wretched poll tax aka maggies baby....that will bite back with a vengence do you really think the party which got most public donations is gonna turn round and bite the hand that feeds them? i think not!!xx |

Also i pay nearly Four times council tax than the poll tax used ta be irealise time and inflation would have put it up but im pretty sure not by that much lol and im still in the same house xx |

Don't a lot of them do that anyway... invest off-shore, set up trust funds for Tarquin and Felicity (gets around a lot of inheritance tax problems)... they already have 101 ways of wriggling out of the full taxation they should be paying.
Aren't a lot of the UK's top earners responsible for seeking cheaper imports and manufacturing from overseas... contributing to the decline of UK industry and manufacturing? |

vat the hidden tax then fuel duty then council tax increase cutting of public services... can you see what mugs are goin to be payin for the deficit...
but the rich wont need to worry ! they can get government fundin etc its the commen man woman that gonna pay the price xx |

Non-domicile tax charge on unremitted income and gains
This year’s budget saw the UK Chancellor Alistair Darling unveiling plans for a fixed annual charge of £30,000 on long-term residents claiming non-domicile status. The measures form part of the Finance Bill, which is making its way through both houses of Parliament. Final approval is expected this month – July – but the measures will apply from the start of this fiscal year on 6 April 2008.
Essentially, non-domiciled individuals, or ‘non-doms,’ are resident in the UK but have strong affiliations with another country where they were either born or their parents were born. They must also have an intention to leave the UK at some time in the future and live in that other country. (A person’s domicile is particular to them and will need to be determined by an examination of their personal circumstances – professional tax advice should be sought.)
Historically UK resident non-doms were allowed a special tax status. There are an estimated 120,000 registered non-doms in the UK. With a recorded spending of £17bn last year, they are considered an elite group with expertise vital to the UK economy.
Up until 5 April 2008 a non-domiciled person could keep their overseas income and capital gain out of the UK tax net merely by not bringing such income and gains into the UK (often referred to as the ‘remittance basis’). Now, however, if you are non-domiciled but resident in the UK for seven out of the past 10 years, you will have to consider carefully whether to continue to elect for the remittance basis.
For example, if you have, say, £500,000 income overseas, you may be liable to 40% tax on that income, which would be £200,000. To keep this overseas income out of the UK tax net, you will now have to pay the new charge of £30,000.
It is important to note, however, that the old rule of tax on remittance stays unchanged – a non-dom resident in the UK, even if they have paid £30,000 – will be liable to tax on any income or gains he is bringing into the UK.

see this is the bit im not sure about as no one has gave a clear cut answer??
as wishy said its a vote loser but we really need to be informed or where these savings are coming from!
but unfortunately its always the lower incomes that get hit hardest by it and when you dont know what it is its not good!
our local council is a nightmare with money as it is and have already made massive cuts i really dont know whats next but then you see a job vacancy for head of education and social services with a starting wage off 75 grand!! then the depute then the department head etc why the hell are all these people doin the same job??
and all they seem to do is get their mugshot in the local paper when things are good, but if they bad nowhere to be seen! xx |

I'm just watching Cameron out and about in Woodstock and he's a natural charmer. He can talk to people at their level no matter what that level is. Brown looks awkward by comparison, but not to take anything away from Brown, he's a number cruncher, and a pretty good one it seems. Put Brown in a little cupboard somewhere with a couple of candles and a few account books and he's in his element so long as he doesn't have to meet people. |

If they can do a good job of running the country I wouldn't care wether they are a people person or not.
Cameron looks like a man who would say what he thinks you want to hear to get you to do what he wants, then leave before breakfast...so as a people person, puts me off.
GB is how you say, doesn't look like he enjoys being in the spotlight doing the campaigning.......but who cares if he can get his sums right. |

cameron tries so hard to be sincere it would actually make you vomit!
i seen him on the news last night in a school with laptops etc no mention of where the school was etc but looked very modern and airy with a good mix of children from all ethnic groups and made me wonder if it was a new school that had been built under labour possibly with the ppi initiative?
actually felt sorry for the kids would rather have done triple maths personally that have to sit in a room with him lol!

i wouldnt expect anyone to call school children bigots?
we dont know what gets said behind closed doors and im certain that school was picked for good reasons.... cant see him in an inner city school with crumbling buildings and high levels of child poverty and all the problems that come with it god forbid he mix with the lower classes! xx |

A 38-year-old man has been thrown out of a Labour Party event after heckling a speech to supporters by Gordon Brown.
Julian Borthwick said he had gone to the National Glass Centre in Sunderland for lunch but "felt animated" when he heard the prime minister was there.
His complaint was about availability of fast broadband in the North East.
He also said he was angry that the PM was not meeting any ordinary people and was instead appearing before "small hand-picked groups".

its always handpicked has been for years god forbid they get asked a question on their feet without someone there to tell them what they say.
the reasonin behind it is security apparently!
i remember years ago some high up twerp from the tory party goin to the factory my mum worked at and the rabble rousers being discreetly moved to opposite end of factory floor that was in the 80s.
they all do it as they are so far out of touch with reality and the real people!

I've made a few speeches in my time (best man umpteen times etc) and I carefully rehearse them so I don't look an arse. That's all it is really, but for these guys with not only the UK watching but the world too, they simply can't afford to make a mistake when so much rests on it. Brown admitted that only today and when his memoirs come out a few years from now, this week will prove to be the catalyst for his downfall. He knows it and it's written all over his wife's face each time they appear on TV, you watch her, she's deeply concerned for him. I'm actually starting to feel sorry for the guy, I know I've had my digs at him but it's just the British way isn't it - we love an underdog lol x |

It is well worth bearing in mind that the majority of Labour Party members did not want Gordon Brown to lead the party, a leadership vote was universally expected.
Alan Johnson was by far the favourite amongst members to succeed Blair, incidentally Tony Blair will always be held in high regard amongst party members even though the majority didn't agree with going back into Iraq.
