you can tell I have been busy at work today .. HR have asked for suggestions for the next "team building venture"
What makes a good team? Not just at work but at home, in social clubs... anywhere really? |

A broad range of roles and characteristics - the visionary, the thinker, the dooer, the leader, the positive peeps, the negs (for balance). Clear communication of the common goal looking to be achieved gives that team a chance of working as well as a well matched skillset too.
What happens on team building days should stay there too.
Dunkin Doughnuts and a Costs would work too - licks lips. |

Can remember watching a late night documentry about the "Pussy Ranch" in Nevada, Texas. They have regular "Corporate" days, lol.
Now we never went to a brothel for our team building exercises. No wonder them Yankees were smiling |

a day climbing and abseiling, making people do "dangerous" things where they need to "put their life" and have their workmates "lives in their" hands work!
I do the safety rigging for such courses and know that they are totally safe but the illusion of danger is absolute!
Its also one hell of a buzz for all involved |

We did a Day and Night out in the wilds in Wales Years ago, one of the Managers nearly threw up when we had to kill and prepare a Rabbit, I knew how to do it from my Ferreting Days as a Kid and even managed to pinch some Spuds and Carrots from a Field, not sure it's PC anymore though, it was good fun though and showed a few People for what they were |

"Any scenario that increases trust and communication. That makes people want to push their own boundaries. This also builds self confidence and confidence in the people around you."
Very true, I love strong willed people and I dont mind a healthy debate - the bottom line is that there is trust in the work relationship that you are still mates after the debate and that nobody bears a grudge. This can take time to build and probably not achieved through a team building day in a fancy venue alone. |

Oh wow, how diverse! I could kill (with a gun) and gut and cook to delisciousness a rabbit, kebabed, curried, stewed, fricaseed, but I could not, no way, no how abseil! I clung to the Eiffel Tower walls like they were going to disintegrate in a breeze!
Did the ice karting thing, a colleague ended up in hospital with concussion.
I suggest a day on a hot beach wearing only ... and perhaps looking after after each other's children, will always bring out the in some! Icecreams all round everyone |

Want to see a good team?
Watch an orchestra.
Everyone is an expert in their own area. They all play a separate part because you can't have harmony if you all play the same thing.
There is a leader and he directs and plays the orchestra. The orchestra plays the tune.
Or watch a pit crew at any motorsport event be it motor racing, rallying, moto gp or whatever. |

Communicators.... people who swap ideas, and are not afraid to speak up. |

We've just had something like that, with networking as we've merged with another housing association, such a waste of money it truly was shame cos the venue was nice, the steam railway museum in Swindon
Not telling staff they HAVE to attend helps
Something fun that everyone will enjoy
A party with nice food i think, and partners
Good service
