Is one born with it, or can it be developed/cultivated?
Personally, I believe it is a bit of both, and having confidence in oneself certainly helps! 
For example, Soapy has presence, all eyes are on him as soon as he walks into the room.
OK, it may have something to do with his ridiculous outfits, however, he has presence all the same IMHO! |

Much like leadership abilities, presence is something which can be developed and improved upon, but the basic foundations are something someone is born with.
Those without can only learn to mimic those with. |

I think presence has to do with appearence. Since I shaved my head, and stopped wearing glasses, and it's been about 15yrs now, people definately see me differently. I used to walk down the road and people would sometimes bump into me without any consideration, I would walk into a pub and get ignored at the bar, lol.
Now its totaly different. People always give me room to pass on the street, and when I walk into a bar, I'm never waiting long to get served. People seem to show me a lot more respect, and it can only be because of how I look.
Because of this, I have loads more self confidence, and I think that this is a connection too  |
