So MD claims he contracted oral cancer through regular cunnilingus ..How does this make you feel especially as I for one am a big fan and always though it was a safe avenue of sexual pleasure . Anyone thinking twice with a new partner now or is it the act in general rather than the individual that's the hazard...

How does he know it was from that...? The problem is how you contract something is rarely provable..

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I'd heard there was a link between being promiscuous and cervical cancer, but its the first time I have ever heard that oral sex is indicated in cancer. I would need to see a study or two before I start pushing guys away.

So, one aging Lothario makes an unsubstantiated claim now people are going to stop having oral sex?!!

Think I've heard it all now!

I am sure there may well be a link but its not proven, there are more things to worry about than unproven theories.

Doctors are in agreement that the one time self confessed sex addict did catch cancer that way but are sceptical that cunnilingus was also the cure for his cancer

With MD, you have to take into account that it's only HIS word that it was from Cunnilingus. HPV can be picked up from any form of oral contact, front door or back door! And his spell in a clinic in the early 90's is thought to have been for sex addiction and not alcohol as was put about at the time. If he was following the pattern of sex addicts in his behaviour prior to being admitted, the chances are he was following the 'any hole's a goal' philosophy, and was probably less than choosy about who he had sex with.

Like any other media 'report', it pays to find out some of the facts behind the headline.

Not saying for one minute that there is no risk to anyone who's not an addict but, even with taking precautions, behaviour patterns have a lot to do with the degree of risk involved.

the link between cunnilingus, HPV transmission and throat cancer is ***ANYTHING*** but news.

It only becomes "news" when a celebutard says it and then the MSM pick it up and run with it.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

GUMs have been reporting an increase in mouth infections and cancer for a few years now. The Guardian has been running an online Q&A on this today.

Oral sexual hygiene advice remains unchanged. See numerous other threads.

After reading a few articles on this subject since he spoke out, it seems you can get cancer from oral through the HPV virus.

Well that's why we get smears every few years. Maybe they need to start checking men out too.

Funnily enough my daughter never got vaccinated for HPV which is a shame. But I didn't think the boys got it too.

They aren't offered the vaccine yet but they carry HPV so perhaps it should be offered to them too.
