We all love snow. It's magical and exciting, turning even the most unattractive place into a special, wonderful scene. Children get to build snowmen and have snow ball fights. It gives the news something to talk about that isn't the economy or politics.
But now it's been here for a while and everything has ground to a halt.
So. Who's fed up with it and how long did it take you to get fed up with it? |

It stopped us from incoming the other night, which was very frustrating.
You're right though. It does look very pretty when you're indoors with a warm fire. |

"i liked it for the first three days or so...its now doing me fecking head in and making me very grumpy "
Took us about the same amount of time. Got to be a pain in the arse when we started to commute to work and do other general routine stuff.
Won't be moving to Colorado or similar anytime soon! |

"Nope !
Never get sick of the snow, long may it continue .. "
Thank you redhotcouple for reminding us not to be so bloody miserable! But I also agree with the other posts that snow is indeed a pain.
It's the icy bit in a few days I'm really dreading.... |

The thing is,if it doesn't snow, the pavements stay frozen and are like ice rinks.
So at least when it snows we can walk around for a while without falling on our arses,besides.....its seasonal!

"I'm sick of the fucking snow men that are every where......
Why are all snowmen lopsided?
Or can kids not see straight these days! "
The local kids have built a snow camel on the common across the road. At least I hope thats what it's meant to be. Either that or it's a huge pair of boobs! |

At what point did someone (or a group) decide, whilst walking through the snow,'I know, let's build a huge snow cock'?
Or did they start out trying to make something else and it just turned into a huge cock?
Make you wonder? |

There's some real perverts about!
I'm shocked
I'm disgusted
And I'm betting it was someone from FAB that made it! |

I love this weather! It's still beautiful , clean , fresh and healthy. It brings with it a stillness and time to reflect that doesn't happen in the usual hubbub of life.
Forced to do 20 on the motorway gave me time to see my surroundings for the first time. There was time to look out of the window, time for a mort moment, time to go wow!
I agree with naughtynmphos that the problems lie in society not being prepared for it. People act like it's a major disaster instead of low temperatures for a few weeks. We have all become complacent.
I had to have a plumber out. All the bath and sink water backing up and the pipe breaking and flooding my backroom and kitchen. Why? Because I have a gaping hole in my outside wall that ive never bothered to have filled; because my outlet pipe had no incline; because i never bothered to fix the dripping tap because i've never had to. They are all fixed now cos the pipe was just one huge icicle so i've had to cure it. I kept on thinking that I'd like to fuck the plumbers brains out. Hope he wasn't into mind reading as a side line.
I blame the media too. Their reaction doesn't help. In their pathetic efforts to make events sound newsworthy and themselves important they succeed in reifying hysteria until everyone is in a huge panic. The language they use is incredibly emotive. I feel I will burst if I see just one more over dramatic reporter presenting a 'heartfelt' commentary from a bridge overlooking a slushed up creeping line of motorway traffic.
Coping, dealing , living with , whatever you want to call it , severe weather should be second nature to us. There should be plans and equpiment ready to put into place. I find it incredulous that councils are planning to cut BACK on the amount of gritting they are doing and the number of roads they will do. No wonder things come to a stand still.
Part of the idea that things are so bad is that we now have a generation or two who think that it's impossible to eat if they can't get to the supermarket for something ready made.
I'm from the coal fire generation. When first base was getting one toggle undone on my duffle coat! Only one room was heated then. When you moved from room to room you wore your coat or rubbed your hands. Icicles formed INSIDE on windows at times. We wore jumpers, two pairs of socks, scarves , gloves n hats. Nowadays I dont even have a pair of gloves in the car or my bag. Not even a coat! If i'd have broken down i'd really have been a blue tit. I felt a bit stupid stepping out of my car in heels into four inches of snow when I own walking boots and wellies ( I think they are to fill up cubpoards with )
Over Christmas my son in law looked at me and said he was cold. It was below zero outside and he was sitting in his T shirt n shorts jammies. I hiked up the heating ( well it was Christmas ) Every room gets heated, everyone wears one layer while we watch ads on saving the planet and totter to the back to door to recycle a can or bottle. I love every loonie moment of it.
Roll on Spring though ..... that's when you can touch second base. |

The white stuff is falling so fast here - more like a rain storm - you can actually hear it landing on the ground.
Sounds daft I know but it really does look like snow rather than rain or hail |

Earlier this week it got pretty cold at a place called Altnaharra. Both Scottish based broadcasters covered the story.
BBC sent a reporter and a film crew in a van along some pretty crap roads through some of the most treacherous weather we've had . Scottish Television (who are all but skint) did the same thing - reporter, film crew - only by helicopter. All so the reporter could stand in front of a field of snow and tell us how cold it was there. |

I got fed up with it before Christmas and this second bout has seen me only going out once since last Sunday.
It's beautiful to see and I remember it being such fun when I was younger but it's really not very nice when you have to go to work and have responsibilities.
Even my cat is fed up of it... he was sat in the kitchen window meowing at it earlier. He hates the cold and resembles a jack in the box when he gets snow between his pads |
