I've a feeling this thread will be deleted by the powers that be but here goes...
I do lots for animal rights on Facebook and in the process of getting a page shut down on there showing the torture and crushing of animals for sexual turn on.
Are there really people out there that get turned on by this if so you need castrating  |

I know what you're saying and it is wrong but facebook isn't a place to raise awareness of such issues due to the age restrictions for Facebook is just 14.

Yes ironic maybe but i will not stand by and allow it to happen if its in front of me, the same as i owuld do my best to stand up for or protect a person being harmed.

yes but the human doing it had a choice.... the poor animal it was/is being done to doesn't have a choice.. i know which one i would want to help without question.. and it would not be the human..if they can carry out what they do the deserve everything that comes to them.

I'm not against protecting animals and the vulnerable. I've stepped into a group of about 10 youths beating seven bells out of a single lad.
I'm just not impressed by bluster and bravado which seems to be de rigueur on threads like these...in my opinion of course. |

Its that pesky First Amendment they've got going over there. Also, the fact that many US states have conflicting laws makes it difficult for them too. Over here its different, but they're not based over here. |

I find it beyond words to describe what humans can and do against animals..i also even get annoyed when people describe people(football hooligans etc) as animals..more SHOULD be done against animal torture and neglect and more towards animal welfare.well done for putting this on the forums!?? |

I had my attention drawn to this yesterday and if its the same page (which I think it is) it was shut down on the 8th may after petitions etc.
It was brought to my attention by a friend who does paid cam work and has an FB page. She put up a pic which showed her naked but everything was covered bar one nipple peeking out. It was removed within hours yet pages that show animals being skinned alive are left running for a long time even after numerous complaints and petitions!!
One of the many reasons I don't use FB much now and only have a few friends who live all over the world on there as friends x |

there are evil people everywhere and in this case there probably is and its deplorable by my standards, however advocating castration doesn't make you a lot better. In reality people need help or locking up rather than mutilation. |

You won't be surprised that I disagree - if one accepts the principal that there are some people who are inherently good, then one must also accept that there are others that are inherently bad - only the deterrent of harsh punishment will over-ride their desire to do evil.

If someone is as you put it is inherently bad you think mutilation will stop them? Your own hypothesis destroys your point of view as anyone inherently bad is unlikely to change their ways. It could be argued advocating mutilating someone makes the advocater of it equally as evil and many would. |

I used to work with the RSPCA and couldn't cut it. The inspectors would report monthly to the board and it was sickening
2 teenagers had got hold of a pigeon and set it on fire. When the fire had burnt out the pigeon was still alive so they relit it and kicked it in the air
They went to court and got away with it
I left shortly after - its so difficult to do the right thing but I was too sensitive to hear of this type of thing |

I can't see what anyone would get out of doing it but I'd agree with the majority that the people doing it need to be punished. The type of people who would do that type of thing are unlikely to be decent well loved people so I wouldn't have any objections to anybody severely damaging them and I wouldn't try and stop them from doing it  |

I abhor cruelty in any shape, manner or form be it to animals or people and applaud your efforts Choccy.
However, I have never understood the urge to castrate offenders. How would it help?
People's sexual urges begin in their brains not their genitals, taking the one away wont stop the other? To my mind I wonder if it would simply make them more frustrated and therefore quite possibly more dangerous.
I do think offenders should be punished but believe that understanding and dealing with the triggers that cause them to behave the way they do is a step in the right direction to finding a way to curb their antisocial behaviour.
Before anyone jumps on my case, if someone hurt someone I loved yes I would want to rip them limb from limb, would that solve anything - No! Would it make me feel better - possibly momentarily but not in the long term. |

i love almost all animals, and respect the natural order
as the most intelligent(!) group on the planet we do some of the most horrific things for fun
other primates, even dolphins have a 'cruel' streak..but then again, they have little to rationalize over
I see something like bullfighting as torture,its not even hunting(which I would welcome without the need to celebrate it as a sport)
so when it comes to people torturing animals my only thoughts are if they start there they may end up being the same type that would pray on young people(kids),older people, maybe a d*unk...in fact..its really only the defenseless they target(or indeed set the advantage so high that one becomes defenseless from the outset)
anyway my point is..especially towards my animal...someone who wishes her harm...gets what I give them.end of discussion. |

Not true. In some (not all) circumstances, castrating them would overcome their inherent wickedness and they would be changed people and therefore slightly less inherently wicked. If they were sufficiently less wicked, that's a result. Otherwise, more extreme solutions may be required, possibly even killing them. It would be no loss to society, civilisation, or the planet.

Which just shows that many people are stupid. All the arguments in the world can not change the certainty that the standards of a civilised society must be policed and protected - in some instances that means jailing people, in others it means killing them. Mutilating them is merely a middle-ground punishment.
We could argue this for a year and never see one another's viewpoint, but I'm guessing that we can at least share the view that there would be a certain natural justice if these people had the same done to them as they apparently have done to these animals ? |

I couldn't agree more keyboard warriors who babble claptrap about castrating people are to be avoided totally in my book as aggregation on a site like this is so negative and potentially dangerous. Educating people is the best way to stop peoples habits not brutalising them. |

about 15 years ago, i did a psychology degree. in the course of it, i learned that there is at least one civilised western country (possibly sweden) that used castration as part of its treatment/punishment policy for serious offenders. re-offending was essentially nil. in case you're wondering, i didn't read it in an obscure journal - it was part of a psychopharmacology lecture course given by a senior professor.

call me callous but re-education costs money, post re-education monitoring costs money, and at the end of it you have a re-educated person who may yet re-offend. from the perspective of society as a whole, why re-educate ? perhaps because it may be kinder to let them keep their balls ? perhaps so, but it doesn't do civilisation as a whole any favours. it isn't as if we need them to keep their balls. |

Try making a call to a few choice tabloid publications with a brief note saying a minor came across this while searching for something else.
Im not opposed to animal rights activities but the people who genuinely care are tarred by the idiots only out to cause their own trouble (kidnapping/assault etc) so been a concerned family member is taken far more seriously.

the fact that you cant even recall which country carries this out does'nt exactly give weight to your argument tbh..
2 seconds via Wiki gives links to medical surveys carried out in several countries Sweden not being one of them..
chemical castration has been used both voluntarily and by states for 50 years but only for sexual offenders..
by my uneducated perspective its not relevant to the thread..
'keep their balls' is basically bollocks as what would one do with females guilty of what the OP describes..?
