If you mean proper job, I worked in Joinery shop.

But my first job as a kid was working on local farms during the summer hols, hauling hay, driving tractors etc, started when I was 13, fantastic fun!

We change to decimal currency while you were still at primary school, how did you manage to get paid in old money.

West Yorkshire

Kitchen assistant in a nursing home started when I was 15, first thing to do at 7am on a sat was peel a whole bag of spuds, another of carrots and then trimming 20 odd cauliflower. I don't think I'd ever peeled more than a handful of potatoes before and I think when I started, there was more potato in the bin than the pot. Oh the blisters ...

Saturday job in a butchers shop. I left aged 17 after three years because they refused to take me on full time as an apprentice because I'm a girl.

Wish I'd had the balls to do something about it back then

"Delivering the free paper, 1p per paper and did 120 houses on a thursday after school."

I got sacked from doing that, someone reported me for dumping the papers in the recycling centre instead of delivering them

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Saturday job at Woolworths collecting and counting the money from the tills. Looking back I'm not sure why they let a 14 year old girl and a 15 year old boy go and collect all of that money. It was a big store, with furniture, electrics, sweeties, a cheese counter and a meat one. A busy Saturday and we would easily pick up £40k on the lunchtime round.
