Be honest, how many of you singletons are also on dating sites?

I'm on a dating site. But I use the 2 sites very differently. I get lots of messages on the dating site, asking if I'll just meet for sex, but I always refuse saying I have a profile elsewhere for those needs.
Same as on here when I get messages looking for more then NSA. |

I have a POF account coz I went on to look for a friend of mines profile so I could look at his pics after he passed away. My profile has always been hidden has barely any text and I haven't looked at it for months x |

Not interested in dating. Might be interested in something other than NSA casual sex, but nothing too serious, which is what women on dating sites desire. We have an open, free to publish, bulletin board type site (Craigs List) in the States. Occasionally I post there or respond to postings for platonic or casual encounters. But most of the ads (as well as the respondents to my ads) are bogus - scammers seeking real email addresses to dupe the unsuspecting in signing up for a paid web site that promises sex. |

I did it the other way round! Met my partner on a "paid" dating site and he introduced me to swinging!
He did wait three weeks to fess up that he was a swinger and by then I was hooked on him. |

which means, unless your different profiles on different sites all say pretty much the same thing, everyone is going to be VERY cynical

In all the years I've been single I've never really considered a dating site. I'm not really interested in them, at least with this kind if site most of the bullshit is out of the way and you fully know what the other persons intentions are and your own are blatantly obvious too. That's not to say I'm opposed to a relationship but truthfully I'd rather meet someone from a site such as this than POF or Match... |

Some interesting responses.Like many of you have found, I prefer the honesty of a site like this, u know where you stand. It did piss me of though when I genuinely wanted to give dating a go. But I found dating sites and not just POF by the way are full of sex hunters, don't get me wrong its not a bad thing but that is what sites like this are for. It is frustrating when u are trying to find someone who wants to date with a _iew to it developing to more! |

Im not on any dating sites and Im not actively meeting on here either.
I want someone with whom I can express the sexual freedoms which this lifestyle offers, but with whom I can I have a deep, loving and wonderful relationship.
Sadly, there is nothing which bridges the gap - so until I find what I know I need, I don't want to accept 50% of a whole. I've been doing that for far too long and its never turned out well.

I don't think you can knock the dating sites ... I've met some wonderful and some wonderfully quirky women over the past 18 months. From a stunning Russian money grabber to a beautiful hairdresser in Harrogate to a playwright poet in chorlton and who could forget the psycologist from Tameside who d*unkenly tried to diagnose a man city fan as high on the autism scale (had to talk us out of that one) ... like I said above, I like to go to places with new people and I like to do it without sex expectations either way |

But you forgot option C:
I can date her, fuck her and we can fall in love with each other being totally open and honest with each other about our sexual preferences and practices, not worrying that it may scare someone off or having to hide who we are. Then we can get a couples profile and be safe and secure in the knowledge that we are in a secure relationship which accepts each other for the sexual beings we are - without exception.

I was on a dating site. I have always hoped to meet someone special but its difficult with a young family and me not trusting men as inevitably get lied too. I found swinging years ago now and it works for me as I dont need to allow someone into mine and my kids lives. Swinging gives me the kinky arousal of clubs and all the naughtiness that goes with it.
The dating site often also brings men lying and they are often very shocked when I want to be intimate with ladies and groups in clubs! They see me as weird lol.
I want to eventually find love trust sexual fun companionship and the whole shebang but unlikely to find that on a dating site.
Even if I found it again my trust issues are still unlikely to result in me having everything.
Swinging on balance for me works better. Its kinky and exciting and dating doesnt bring me that.
I just want to be me and enjoy it all lol |

never been sucessful when it comes to commitment but ive enjoyed what ive had for however long it lasted. learnt things and progressed on.

Yep, another POFfer here, but with intimate encounter ticked 
I have noticed there a rather large amount of ladies with intimate encounter ticked as there "looking for" and then they go and block contact from anyone looking for intimate encounters
After well over a year on the site I'd had no luck, just over two weeks with a more bespoke profile and I have two genuine people interested, so its better than Fab so far as the only meets I've had off here are people i knew elsewhere  |

Well news for all you POF members! Just been on and had a message saying they are changing the site! They are getting rid of the intimate encounter option! As they want to refocus it back to relationships! And any first messages they see with sexual references in them won't be sent! Personally I think this is a good thing |

People will still find a way around it, but think it is the right path for POF to take as they aren't meant to be a 'hook up' type site really, they are meant to be a more serious dating site |
