My mum has tried to teach me, since I was a wee nipper (many many moons ago, before Soapy says it) to try to knit....
I'm fecking useless at it, I still can't cast on, let alone make anything that resembles even a scarf.....
But, I have something special I want to knit for a certain member of my Posse and I've got 7 months to learn and get it done.
Can anyone teach me, or at least give me the basiscs?

Its new year - there's bound to be a 'step by step guide' available soon.
It'll be in a gazillion parts, only 99p for the 1st one and 10 quid for the subesquent editions, and you'll be able to buy a beautiful leather look binder to hold them all together.

And after 40 years of trying to learn and giving up completely about 10 years ago, I don't know whether I should start giving my self that kind of stress again!

Buy one of the many granny magazines that are available, my gran says they have step by step guides for begginers.

i can knit was taught at my grannys knee lol!! i knit a lot of baby garments hats, cardigans etc and also some for premature baby wards. you can get little knittin starter kits for children try one of them and see how it goes! im goin to learn to crochet this yr think il put it on profile "not meetin at mo learning to crochet annoy me and hook be put to better use " lol xxx  |

I helped out at my son's after school group making costumes for their nativity (so many fekkin angels to dress) and I was amazed at all the rapt little faces that had never seen a sewing machine in action... I got all of them sitting with pins and needles and scraps of cloth and taught them the basics of sewing by hand xxxx |

That has given me the best giggle today OMG this I would have to see, no you cant use the needles to stick in dolls of clay either Jo which would have to happen within five minutes of you starting anything which involved patience!

Well im going to shock you all, my granny taught me too knit. I have knitted everything. I used to buy dolls for my friends girls and knit dolls clothes. If anyone was having a baby id knit full matinee sets. Cable jumpers, used to knit callum a gorgeous aran cardi/jumper every year when he was little. I had to stop about 10 years ago as my eyesight got worse and my fingers stiffen up. But im sure i could try again |

my grandma taught me too ...no mean feat as im a left hander but learnt right handed so i didnt have to reverse all the patterns . Im a bit slow now due to the problems with my hands hence doing small things , but i still love that sense of acheivement of creating something myself xx |

taught myself to knit a couple of years ago using the internet (youtube has great instructional video's)..
Entered a wrap cardigan into the village show last year and got second place and yes there were meore than 2 entries!! lol
currently knitting a cable scarf with pockets on - should have started earlier as will b summer by the time i finish lol |
