What was the reason you applied for your current job?
Jump to: Newest in thread
I had just moved to the area, so it was just a job in a company I'd never heard of.
I've had great development and training opportunities ... and 30 years later, am now contemplating retirement in a couple of years |

Likewise I was headhunted by an agency when I moved back to London and after a while some less than legal paperwork got me permanently in the books.
My professional development is at a bit of a standstill, more just improving the improving works I mostly do but I'll probably be going into instalation works soon so will need to learn some new tricks soon enough. |

I applied for my last job because the money was good and it fitted around our children. I was not then and never was passionate about it. I really liked the people I worked with though and that made it enjoyable. |

It was more money than I was getting, I knew most of the team and the manager as it was based in the same department, and I kinda knew I could do it. I wasn't wrong. But I'm bored now and the manager is actually awful at her job so I am looking at other things, but leaving the security of the public sector is a scary prospect. |

Coming back from the pandemic- needed to get back to the same industry, same company- but different job. It was a “now or never” moment. And I did it. ❤️
I am passionate about it and hope to get back to it soon. |

They wanted me, I liked them. I would only ever choose to work somewhere with the right organisational culture that fits with my own beliefs but I appreciate that is not always possible for everyone. |

I was stuck in a horrible situation and had a bully for a manager, I needed a job any job and practically begged them to take me.
But to be honest my current employers have surprised me as they have a bad reputation locally. I've never had a job where you get so many benefits for just practically doing the job you are paid to do.
They encourage everyone to put forward ideas and often reward you for it, even though it may be with food or drink and not cash, it is the thought that counts. |

I've been in the same industry since I was 17 years old. It has taking me all over the UK and allowed me too work for some major companies in the industry. I really loved it at the beginning and in some ways i still do but i feel i have lost something i had at the beginning. |

I started at my company because I needed to take an apprenticeship to get some office experience and this place looked like the best available option at the time even if the industry wasn't ideal.
Since then I've been moved around to different roles without needing to apply 💜 |

Firm I run a division of now was a customer of mine in previous job. We're looking to expand and needed the right man so was offered better package than I was on at time in a job / company I'd completely lost all feeling for.
My then boss left 5 years later and I was offered his job.
Love it. Good, small family owned and run firm with c.35 employees. |

I applied for this job because the redundancy money from my previous job was running out, and I've got a mortgage to pay, sigh.
I don't think I'm passionate about my day to day, as my job is quite boring. But I would say I'm passionate about the sector I work in generally (social housing). |

I applied last year because I was tired of being self-employed. It’s the same work, but with the added security of holiday pay and pension contributions. Plus, I get to work with lovely people, which is a real bonus.
I enjoy it, but I’m not as passionate about it as I used to be, which is a shame given that gardening was my autistic special interest for years.

So, some music of mine was used on the TV show 'skins' years ago..and it snowballed from there.
It's branched out into several aspects of music making these days and there's a teachable/ instructional aspect to it.
.
I feel lucky that I haven't actually 'applied ' for a job for a long time.. |

I was self employed courier for 16 years and self-employed just over 22 years altogether working nearly 80 hours a week. I changed jobs for a better work life balance now i do 35/40 a week for the same money and spend more time at home with the family. |

I applied because it was a change of industry to healthcare, and I loved that it seemed a worthwhile thing to be doing. 7 years on and I love the company. I've worked my way up to management and I really like my work and the people I work with. It's a real caring company and is a complete change from the financial services, which bored me senseless, but paid better. I wouldn't go back. |

Because it was ridiculous sounding. Out of my comfort zone and a huge risk.
I’m an idiot.
I do love it though.
I was passionate in my last role & I haven’t lost that.
Totally different environment & sector. And one I am passionate about. |

Why? Covid. Previous job was contracting, and when covid hit and everybody got put on furlough, nope not me ....OUT!
Had to cast a very wide net to find something else, but I do enjoy it and I don't mind travel |

"How passionate are you about the work you do?"
I was absolutely miserable in my old job, to the point I ended up on antidepressants.. also it was a good opportunity to get into the NHS , generally love my job x |

I have no passion for my work
I am conscientious
I turn up
I do my work well
I go home
But passion, nag
I had a relatively successful career
I made the decision in my late 40's that enough was enough
I now have a weekday job with regular daytime hours
I intend to now coast towards retirement |

My last workplace was toxic, bad manager who micro managed good staff and allowed bad staff to work unchecked. I had Mondays off and she would phone me up to tell me there was gossip flying around about me but would never elaborate on who or what
I used to feel sick going in, and would literally cry constantly
I saw my current job advertised, a place I had worked previously and regretted leaving last time.
Fired off an application form with out hope of them having me back...I was wrong, they offered me an interview and then offered me the job the same day. 4 years later here I am

The part time job I'm in now I took to get me out of the previous job which was very stressful. I took a pay cut but worth it for not having the level of stress.
I'm now restless and so bored though in this job and management frustrate me. I have no drive or passion in this job, my hearts just not in it which makes it difficult to enjoy. I've had a job offer for elsewhere (they approached me) so thinking I may move to that organisation.
My other job, I enjoy as I'm self employed alongside my husband.

Basically wanted a full-time job (had been working on part-time 15 years), better pay & better work/life balance working 5 days rather than 5 on in every 6 days with only Sundays guaranteed off |

"How passionate are you about the work you do?"
Very. I was considered a natural choice given my skill set and experience. I'm at the pinnacle of my profession, make a difference in people's lives daily, and earn very well as icing on the cake.

I enjoy my current job, but I enjoy it more when I'm fully engaged in it - which doesn't happen often.
I was in another role when management suggested I would be better suited to this one, and they were absolutely right 👌 |

"I was headhunted and I went because I was so miserable where I was.
2 years on and I'm getting tempted to move again but I need to remind myself how good I have it instead "
There's always better places than where you are, don't limit yourself darling |
