Anyone wanna share the biggest lesson they learnt in life?
Mine is, the more someone doubles down on a their own opinion of themselves, it's strangely the opposite. So if they continue to say they never care what others think, it's very untrue... they are super honest, super loyal, they aren't at all |

"“Never criticise someone before you’ve walked a mile in their shoes.”
That way, when you criticise them , you’ll be a mile away and you’ll have their shoes."
This is excellent advice. I need some new sandals ![](/icons/s/twisted.gif) |

Not sure i fully agree here OP.
If it's someone who has absolutely no relevance in my life I genuinely couldn't care less about what they think of me.
Just as I don't let criticism bother me from people who I would never ask for advice. |

My big one is this idea of compound rewards & joining the dots going backwards. When we are young, we expect progress to be linear in relation to effort, but it’s rarely is. It’s only when you look back 5, 10 or 20 years you understand compounding, It doesn’t matter whether it’s investing, or learning skills or working on relationships. |

In my 1st university lecture as a mature student I was told "intelligence doesn't guarantee success" and sometime later a writer gave me this invaluable advice "tenacity is more important than talent". I've since combined these two maxims into the cornerstone of my own methodology/life philosophy because it doesn't matter how intelligent or talented you are if you give up on yourself to easily! |

The biggest burdens we carry are the things we meant to say and didn’t. The apology we didn’t make. Hesitated to say I love you. Didn’t say goodbye when we needed to. We can’t go back to that moment. So say it.
Everyone on this thread, everyone on this site, everyone I’ve ever met, has survived something that might have crushed me. We can all be too quick to look for the flaws and weakness in others, rather than admire their strengths. |

Two things that stand out for us..
1.. being a bit older now we see many of our dear friends passing away so live each day as if it's your last and just have lots of family time and do things you've always wanted to do.
2nd..they say you get wiser as you get older.. we've stopped watching any news as it's mainly put on to divide people and we revert back to point one.. be happy. |

"fuck it, I'm gonna do it anyway"
"Okay" is a really powerful thing. It's going to be okay. It's ok to not be ok.
Chin up, tits out. You belong wherever you are. Own it.
Be true to yourself and fuck the haters. |

The people that shout the loudest and try to make themselves seem the biggest.
Are usually the most insecure, weakest and smallest. |

Never work more hours than you have too. It won’t ever make you rich and you can never get back the time. Home life far more important, had sooo many arguments with bosses coz I wouldn’t do excessive over time. Not an issue any more as self employed. |
