Just watched this. What a great movie. Amazing cinematography and acting by Lilly Rose Depp. A must see if your fan of Gothic or vampire

On my 'to watch' list. Doesn't seem to be much in the pipeline at the moment. Guess it's that slow time of year. 🤷‍♂️

It's on my list - love a vampire film! Not sure why I haven't been to see it yet.

Visually striking for sure, but it didn't do anything new with the old story, and I found her very unlikeable as a character which never helps 💜

Yeah, that’s a fair comment. I’ve heard a few similar criticisms about the Story.

I guess for me I’m very visual into cinematography/film I just loved the camera work and the lack of colour. Some of the scenes were just striking, beautiful, visually transcendent, and I thought her acting was phenomenal. Not a single piece of CGI was used making this film, everything you see was shot on film

Angelina Jolie’s portrayal of Marie Callas looks worth a watch. But yes , I agree it looks a pretty slow time for film

January to Feb/March usually is. With a few exceptions that take advantage of the lul, it is essentially prime to slip in the b tier stuff to keep the movie business going, the stuff that stands 0 chance against summer blockbusters.

Oh visually striking absolutely. And I thoroughly enjoyed the soundtrack as well.

The acting was good for sure. I can appreciate that, but I found the character very unlikeable which will always take away from investment in the story and resolution.

I'm sure there was some CGI. I know he went out of his way to use practical effects as much as possible, but there will be some CGI enhancements in there somewhere.

Oh there will be plenty of cgi used. The most under the radar cgi is backgrounds, and even the most self important "no cgi" modern movies will have used it. Not all CGI is in your face, most is subtle and people would have no idea it was used.

The Town by The Cross

Okay ....... will I like it ?

Im not a Goth fan as such. Not a vampire fanatic as such.

Loved the Christopher Lee films as a kid

My fave Drac film is the Gary Oldman version circa 2010 I think .... because it portrayed him with pathos and gave story behind his being....

C'mon .... will I like Nosferatu based on what i've said

Probably not , it’s not quite a cult as George A. Romero’s 1977 Martin the Vampire , but it’s more like that than Keanu Reeves & Gary Oldman.

A glowing recommendation.

It’s top of our watch list when we have a spare evening.

We found it very slow and overly long. The possession scenes were well acted though.

Somewhere In The Ether…

I recently rewatched Murnau’s 1922 silent classic.

After more than a century, Count Orlok is probably still the scariest looking vampire ever to grace the screen (along with Barlow from the original 1979 miniseries, Salem’s Lot) 😃

Oh dear, I'm going to have to go against the grain. Saw it last night. A really good nod to the 20s classic. Great cinematography, lighting etc which added to the feel of the original with nice shadow action. Decent enough acting.

But the plot was shite, it was slow and ramble and lots of unnecessary padding out.

But most criminal of all was Nosferatu. How can you go from arguably the most grotesque creature on the screens with the original to almost a spitting image of the Sheriff from Stranger things with long fingers and expect to get away with it.

Nosferatu looked less scary than some 1970's German Porn stars FFS.

Bored rigid 3/10.

Barry Norman out.

The original creature grotesque? Dude is and always has been goofy looking as fuck. More Uncle Fester than a demonic predator of the night. The are overwhelmingly more grotesque creatures from kids movies.

And that's not in support of the new version as I'm yet to see it.

The problem with the original is that the Fast Show ripped it off with 'Monster Monster' and I can't unsee it now.

Haha! Yeah, probably not for you if you just wanna see a scary monster, there’s lots of Hollywood films with special effects do that much better!

Didn’t you know the plot already? It’s not that complicated Dude goes off to sign a property deal and gets bitten. Monster comes back to be with his lover. I think the plots pretty much remained unchanged for over 100 years.

😂 No. Indefinitely didn't. I just remembered that he looked pretty bad for a 1920s creature. My daughter loves horrors so it was a match made in heaven.

I have the hearing ability of an 84 year old man with ear defenders on and mix that with that ridiculous accent too...

She was not impressed with the film or having to be my personal translator at the same time 😂

To be fair...to me 😂...I prefer a good thriller than horror but this didn't thrill and I never left my seat through jumping once.
