It is almost the end of the year and it would be fun to know how your training have been this year, like, have you completed your training goals and what was it?
I have completed my goals and I have made good progress in the gym, one of my goals was to maintain my 6pack year round which I have done, it have been a challange, but I have made it |

"Inconsistent, unmotivated, distracted
That’s still some arse though.
It's a very fat, flabby, out of shape arse that is in dire need of squats!
I wish I could find a gym buddy 😭😭😭"
Id train with ya |

Well done Shag. I decided to give up the 6 pack for the second half of the year, increase the calories, and focus on strength. I've always had a weak bench and I am really pleased with the results. I'll get trim again in March before we go on holiday in April. (Jake). |

I lost 11kg in weight in the first half of the year dues to illness. Goal has been to put it back on, I'm at 8.5kg which I'm happy with and the plus point is before I lost the weight was at 18% body fat and I'm now nearly back up in size but at 14%.
Quite pleased. |

Well, I stayed injury & illness free and trained consistently for the whole year, no big breaks, I worked on my front crawl technique & was able to swim 5 km in the sea & 100 pool lengths, I carried on lifting all year , just not super heavy and yesterday managed to pull out a 5K run in 26 minutes , so yes, I made all my goals,

This year I put a heavy focus on pole. I only did two classes a week as I find three triggers niggles. But I turned my 3 weekly strength sessions to support pole as well - upper, lower, full and each with an element of core.
I had a list of moves I wanted to perfect by the end of the year - got the last one on Monday 😂 - and I moved up to the next class level.
Outside of that, I did one or two cardio sessions a week according to mood and time - swim, bike or run. But for once I did these for fun rather than being goal oriented.

Pretty good overall. Still 7 kg lighter than I was this time last year, despite some injury and chocolate induced wobbles in the middle of the year.
Not quite where I'd like to be - ideally I'd like to gain some more muscle and lose just a little bit more around my waist this year, but I feel like I'm in a good place generally. |

I have worked really hard to regain my strength and fitness after ACL & meniscus surgery last year.
I completed 11 months of physiotherapy, I have incorporated rehabilitation into my core and conditioning training, and have restarted training with a PT once a week. I am walking many miles a week with our dog and my running mileage has significantly increased too. I am almost back to the fitness level before my knee injury.
I have signed up to a road marathon in April, a 16 mile run which is half road & trail, plus I have my eyes on my first ultra later in the year.
So 2025 will be all about strength, fitness and remaining injury free 🤞
Well done to everyone on achieving or working towards goals this year.

and only one pole pic?! Shame on you!!
My year has had its ups and downs, which has meant training has had its ups and downs... I rode the Carten🚲 in May (110 miles, Cardiff to Tenby), did a hefty lap of the Brecon Beacons soon after, but have fallen off the wagon toward the end of the year.😔
Well, I say 'fallen off', it's more like "I crashed the wagon, smashed it up and used it for firewood"!!
Start all over again for 2025... 👊 |

I've been back in my gym all year. Happy to have my coached training regime bacl in place.
Varied between 8 sessions a week and 4, depending on my other time commitments.
Competed nationally and internationally.
For 2025, it'll be same again. |

My goals at the start of the year were to be bigger and stronger so technically I’ve failed miserably but I have lost a significant amount of bodyfat, kept quite a lot of muscle despite being a lot weaker and I can run a half marathon without collapsing so I guess it’s been a very good year for me.

Body will be primed for growth far better now though mate hormones and insulin sensitivity work much better when leaner and will make much better gains when switching your focus to growing |

I’m trying to get down to sub 10% bodyfat before I start any form of bulk so I’ve still got a bit to go but as long as I can cling on to as much muscle as possible I’ll be happy by the end of it. |

It was squat heavy twice a week with loads of leg extensions but an injury put a stop to that. Now it’s do whatever I can do that doesn’t hurt. |

Returned to regular gym attendance after a hiatus that was just too long for comfort.
The results have really shown after 5-6 months of regular attendance. I'd never thought I'd grow accustomed to an early 6:30am start! Now I can't see any other way of doing it.

Sorry to hear about your injury
Thanks for sharing though. I love doing extensions but I don’t feel like I can squat heavy enough to feel it in my quads. I’ll have to try a bit harder perhaps, maybe go less reps.
I hope you can recover from your injury! |

I planned on joining a running club in January 2024, got ill for a good 3 weeks, lost all my fitness and struggled to get back into it. My relationship ended and all motivation was lost. 2025 will be better because I'm determined to make it so. |

My goals were to be bigger and stronger, mainly to boost my confidence. Fast forward 12 months, I've got a great routine, hitting the gym 4-5 times a week, I'm lifting the most I ever have and I'm the heaviest I've ever been. Considering I've generally been on the skinny side of slim, I'm pleased with my progress. Now to keep it up otherwise it drops off in a week 😂 |

Thanks. If you gym has a hack squat machine try using that. If you set your feet up in the right position it’s impossible to not feel it in your quads. |

It was ok all in all. Hit some food PBs in my squat and bench press but put my back out early in the year which needed a good amount of rehab to get to the numbers I was a before. I recently felt a tweak in the same spot so I'm thinking of taking out deadlifts from my program or limiting them and focusing more on hypertrophy rather than testing a 1rm.
I do feel like I'm at a bit of a crossroads with my body in terms of knowing whether I should just commit to a bulk and change my diet accordingly. |

2nd on the hack squat. I don't squat with a bar any more dues to injury and the hack squat is a great alternative |

August was a turning point for me and I started back at the gym (after many yrs away) and using a PT to help me build a routine/programme. It was all going well until I became ill in October.
My PT and I have worked together on rehabilitation at home and now back at the gym using weights. Weights are lighter than when I 1st started but slowly increasing.
January will see the same and I am hoping by the end of the next 3 mths I will be lifting heavy again and start seeing my toned body. |

I had very high blood pressure through a very stressful ongoing situation, cholesterol was high (according to the doctor - although I do think they push the Statins at peeps too quickly. For christ's sake try a life style change 1st, then if i'm still in double figures then ok, i will consider. Statin's don't suit everyone or change their cholesterol levels necessarily. Doctors know this & don't recognise polymyalgia either... As there have not been enough studies done on the topic to prove effectiveness or not...)
I have altered my diet. Downloaded a step tracker & walk every day close to home or in a nearby park - the scenery is stunning, and my mental health is slowly getting better!
I try to do 5,000+ steps a day & very rarely miss a day. I've started to loose weight & I am very careful with my diet.
For me it's an ongoing battle. I've been told I must lose weight. I can see that my face is thinner & jeans are a little looser! |

I managed to stay pretty much injury free this year from combat sports which was a pleasant change from a diabolical 2023.
Overall I’m happy with how 2024 went. I’m still doing the same basic bitch full body 3 days a week weight training which hasn’t changed for about 3 years now. |

Joined up the gym again recently as usually I just PAYG so back training again, but in 2025 I want to try and mix it up more as i love the gym I tend to forget the cycling but I want to do both and do a bit more jogging. |
