How many are alone over Christmas

Always wanted to do a swinger friendly open house at Christmas so that anyone could pop in for dinner or nibbles (non sexy, just chatter with like minded people). Vetoed by the Mrs but who knows one day. |

Sounds a good idea in principle, hope it works out one day

"Second one alone, learning to see the positives from it "
I have all the traditional foods and drinks etc, also the company of my cats, and they are at least loyal! Roll on some decent TV programmes to watch |

I did it twice. 2008 and 2019. More people than you think do it, but generally we don't see it. Both times by choice and I fully appreciate those who have no choice.
In my younger days I had a fear of being alone and I made huge mistakes in relationship choices as a result.
I got to conquer that by facing my fears. I actually can't believe some of the toxic people I had relationships with.
Being alone gave me that space. I stayed at home, I didn't fill it with "time fillers" to pass the day, and I got to know myself more.
I like me, and whether I am alone or not doesnt matter anymore.
So to anyone out there who may be alone at this time of year, it's not what you think, it was liberating for me, but if you're not feeling it, reach out. |

I am and by emphatic choice.
I've had a few offers to spend it with people, most particularly my sister, where my mum and dad are going.
However, Christmas dinner at hers is billed for 13.00, but usually appears at 15.00 and I resent having to have my dinner before I leave the house just to tide me over until I actually get my dinner. Plus, my nephew is the apple of my sister's eye and she finds him fascinating and expects us all to do the same. In reality, he is very boring, so after 2 minutes I'm fed up with being told to look at what he's doing, or having to throw games so that he always wins.
I'd much rather stay at mine and have a super day |

Spent last several Christmases with parents
Other family all live abroad have their own lives
Going out to pubs whatever is boring on your own and pricey these days
Enough time passes you can get used to anything

I'll be home alone again as usual, I prefer it this way. So I just don't have to pretend or be nice to people (or even relatives) I don't like or want to know. No I'm not Sad or Lonely, I get to see my friends & relatives I like at any time of the year. Friends & Relatives (that I like) Are For Life, Not Just For Christmas |

Not alone as I have live with my son but he’s 17 and only ever ventures down from the loft for food. might wander down to my mams for her sake more than mine as I’d rather not bother but feel obliged too. Will have belated Christmas Friday when I get my daughter |

This makes me quite sad to think of all of these people alone at Christmas I think I’d hate that. I’ve always been around friends and family.
Merry Christmas to you all and I hope you enjoy it wherever you are xx |

Just looking by this thread, it seems more guys will be alone…
But we can all cope, it’s just another day really…
Could be better if we all met someone from here, who’s on the same wavelength….
Any way, I’m alone in the evening and quite looking forward to it, might even be on here trying to get a meet … or it’s just another happy lonely wank |

I'm lucky to be with close family today, but I anticipate being alone on Christmas in the next few years for a variety of reasons. I've been thinking a lot about loneliness, how many people jam themselves into relationships of all kinds (romantic/familial/friendships) just to avoid feeling lonely.
Either way, alone or not at this time of year, I don't think it's easy for anyone, but I hope everyone finds some small measure of peace in their day. And remember the quote from Robin Williams about loneliness, it's something that has helped me understand a lot of what I'm feeling about life:
"I used to think the worst thing in life was to end up all alone. It's not. The worst thing in life is ending up with people who make you feel all alone.” |

Never bothered me,it's the ability to do what I want, when I want ...sounds selfish I know ...
As much as gatherings bring joy they also bring discord and arguements ...
After all, for all the hype these days ..it's just another day ...
It's lost its actual meaning and value..

Yep, separated from my partner a month ago so having my first Xmas alone in a few years.
There's been sad bits (I couldn't watch any Xmas movies as they were all making me too emotional - even 'Gremlins' FFS) but, like others have said, there are positives too.
I keep telling myself that there are people in the world who are having it much worse, and that it's only 1 day. To anyone who's struggling today - you've got this! Xx |

Thanks for all your comments, it's like a one day only club isn't it? Perhaps some comments have encouraged us all. I have my cats for company which is great but it's nice to have some human contact.
Merry Christmas to you all.
Now let's get pissed and watch porn!! |
