I need new shoes...

So, dressing for work this morning I'm looking at my shoes sitting there, like the pair Andy Dufrense leaves behind in the box for Warden Norton in the Shawshank Redemption, decided maybe it's time to replace them, despite how comfortable and stylish they are...

What have you 'worn down to the nub' (more Shawshank 😉), clothing or otherwise, just because you love it so much?

Got so many to choose from. But in my youth my bright red DrMartens never left my feet, so comfortable, but so bloody expensive now.

I wear all of my favourite items out... Although I once had a yellow pair of shoes that I loved so much I actually stopped wearing them so that i didn't wear them out... But that meant i never wore them again 😭

My willy, it used to be a good 10"

And, most of my shirts, I hate parting with them.

Jeans don't last too long on these thighs

I had a pair of burgundy pod shoes in my teens, looked like clown shoes with bulbous ends! They died a slow drawn out death.

My trail trainers are split on the side of the toe box, and even though I have a new pair I still wear the old ones.

I also desperately need a new insulated jacket as mine is now much too big for me and the insulation has clumped together, and the jacket has a few splits. I don't want to order online, I want to visit stores to try on. I am also hoping to catch the sales as these items are expensive.

Bra's, I absolutely hate bra shopping with a passion. I need new everyday bra's and sports bra's but have been putting it off for ages. My sports bra's now concave in at the nipple area as that area of the bra is empty!

Sounds like you need a January sales trip up to London to visit Rigby & Peller.

Some jumpers. Cardigans. If I find one with the right knit and in a favourite colour, I'll wear it until it's barely hanging together.

And... there's a bra. It's my favourite bra. There are no longer wires in it but it's still beautiful, it's a bit big but I still love it. I need to find the exact one but they sadly stopped selling that design a few years ago.

Transsexual Transylvania

The soles of my walking boots are worn through. Thet're so comfy, and I wear then every day to walk the dog, but they've now had it.

My favourite leather jacket - my late wife bought it for my birthday in 1999. The leather eventually started to tear in places and disintegrate at the collar. She replaced it with a new, almost identical one for Christmas in 2021, 5 months before she passed away. I expect to wear that for the rest of my life.

That's both so sad, but heart warming to read; look after that jacket!

Not so much love, but necessity, but my super hard wearing wheelchair front castor wheels are pretty worn. There's not a lot of rubber left. They're not cheap either, *sigh*

That sucks!😟 ...and I'm guessing they're bespoke? there's no going all W Heath Robinson on them with some similar product?

Black leather knee boots. I've had them 20+ years. Probably spent £100 getting them repaired over the years.

Not so much bespoke as "off the peg". The metal bit of the castor cannot be detached from the rubber so you can't replace the rubber only, you have to buy a whole castor. You can get all kinds of fancy things but I just get relatively basic but robust ones. They're about £45 per wheel

I have a grey cashmere jumper that I refuse to throw away. It's unwearable in other than the most scruffy/casual places, but it's like putting on a hug.

I've go a red FCUK rucksack that was an Xmas special it must be at 14 years old. I've also got an Aldi waterproof jacket. I's not waxed like the Barbour, but it it too is almost 15 years old. If anything is likely to go on this, then it will be the paracord waistbands, otherwise perfect condition. This is my bad weather go to.
