I used to when I was a kid or teenager, but having grown a distinct dislike of the shopping experience in town, I haven't done for many years now.
Nothing against it, just don't enjoy shops. 😅 |

I got a brand new suede coat for £25, suede jacket for £1:50, a hand made sample leather jacket for £5 and a full length sheepskin coat (which I've since redonated) for £3:50. This was around 5 or 6 years ago, such bargains aren't to be had now. |

Boobs helped at a local charity shop for ages and most of the donations were new name branded stuff with the tags still in place. It's no longer operating unfortunately we love hunting for a gem in a charity shop especially for fancy dress or similar outfits |

"Absolutely,… yes except underwear "
Judging by some of the threads I have noticed on Fab forum, I would have though that used underwear, or even previously bought but never used, would find a ready market amongst onanists! |

Its another form of recycling and in lot of cases clothing wise maybe as the result of death of original owner is like the family will be pleased someone can benefit from the loss they feel.
I have had numerous items from charity shops and will continue to.
While there was stigma at one time of people using charity shops I think for most part this thankfully has changed |

"Absolutely would. You get decent quality stuff at a reduced price.
The charity gets a boost in their funding towards a good cause. Everyone wins "
Well, some shops are dearer than others £45 for a DVD boxset in Warwick? Err, brand new's cheaper. |

How many animals have to die to satiate your shopping habit? (Only teasing!) |

Show me a TV that’s doesn’t go in a charity shop, for many of us for years it was our go to shop … I always still have a good browse when I get the chance.
I got my favourite pair of 5” court shoes from a charity shop … I do only wear them when I’m not going to walk very far! 😉….tgt only cost a tenner.
I also always check out the DVDs … you never know what classic film is lurking in there.

A motorbiking friend of mine loves a charity shop and will seek them out wherever we go so I go along too. A few years ago we were touring France and Spain and had stopped for petrol in a small town. My fuel pump did not work so I waited for him to finish and then used his. Went to pay and came out to find him gone! Looked around and saw a charity shop across four lanes of traffic and thought Aha! Went over to find him heated discussion with the woman running it, a little old French lady. I worked out the problem using my limited French, he was expecting change and she wanted another Euro! I said to her in my bestest French, the English are very stupid and she started talking to me at speed and I said in my bestest French Madam I am English! She went and phoned someone and I explained to him he owed her a Euro and she was now on the phone to "the boys"! He paid and we left as he half believed me. Btw, this was in the heat of a French July and he had bought.......Christmas decorations! |

I’ve got at least ten hoodies from charity shops last time I checked there was 37 in my chest of drawers also purchased from a charity shop, sofa sideboard lamps leather armchair, the list goes on, the thing with buying in a charity shop is you can see it how it is under harsh shop lighting, when you go to furniture shops the lighting is all subdued (not the big light) so you get a better idea of what anything looks like in daylight, a lady I met on here is an interior designer and told me that secret, everything looks shit in the evening so don’t buy in the dark |

"We specifically hunt down small towns with a high proportion of charity shops (and ideally a few good pubs too). Finding some treasure, a pork pie and a few good ales is a successful day out."
Head to the affluent areas and visit their charity shops. Some of them are goldmines! |

We do
I think we are into charity shop tourism (if that's a thing). |

I used to buy work jeans from George (asda) and they lasted perhaps two or three washes and then came in bits, I now buy quality fashion jeans from charity shops and they last an awful lot longer and actually fit me, nothing worse than jeans that slip down your backside |

"No not these days the prices they charge you I could get new "
It depends on the town the charities are operating in. In a town called Cowbridge, which is the Park Lane of South Wales it's a waste of time looking for a bargain, Same in the seaside towns of Porthcawl and Mumbles as prices are exorbitant, but in Neath and Port Talbot you'll get, "A lot of flash, for not much cash." Shame really that they don't sell cars in charity shops, and then motoring hardwear could come at a knock down price. |

"I would love to have the confidence to buy dresses, skirts and tops from charity shops"
Whilst male i think nothing about buying the above items.
But ive found theres many ladies that dont like being near a male searching through the ladies hanging items.
some dont mind it and will chat with you but mostly its a dirty look and wont come near you.
now ive bought for many ladies and ive also bought for my own daughter (single parent to 2)
so really think nothing about buying ladies items.

Absolutely not. I regularly donate, especially to cancer research, but I don’t want to spend my time trawling through endless random racks on the off chance I’ll find something I like in my size, that is almost certainly second hand.
As a child I was dressed by dearest mama in hand-me-downs and charity shop/market gear. For a skinny weird kid desperately trying to fit in, I stood no chance with my shit clothes and I hated that. |

I resent that comment and your snobbery. I love charity shops and certainly don't wear shit clothes. You must be one of those foolish people who spends ££££s on clothes when people in the world are starving. I would rather spend little on clothes and give my savings to those who have nothing. |

And you are entitled to your opinion, as am I. Believe it or not, in a community forum someone may actually have different experiences and views to you.
For what it’s worth, I didn’t say “All charity shop clothes are shit, your clothes are shit, you’re shit aaaaaa.” I just said I had shit clothes as a kid and some of them came from a charity shop.
And there’s no need for insults. I am not foolish. I buy average price clothes from high street shops because I want to and I will not be made to feel guilty for doing so. I work hard to earn my money and I’ll spend it how I want to, not be dictated to by someone I’ve never met who has an opposing view to me.
We are different, clearly, but neither of our choices is any less valid.
All the best to you. |

I would absolutely buy from a charity shop. If I saw something that really took my fancy - usually retro attire or quirky items of clothing - then I would snap it up in a heartbeat. A few of my treasured pieces of knitwear were procured from charity shops. |

Often have I bought from a charity shop. When the kids were younger, there was a charity shop local and I used to walk up to it with them. They both had £1 and could buy one toy with it. This was a weekly thing and went on for more than a year.
I visit them less frequently now, though. |
