"Have you guys heard of … Watership Down
🐇☠️🩸😭🐰"
Yes.
Have you seen or read Plague Dogs from 1977/1982?
This one isn't so famous but does come from the same writer and producer.
It tells the tale of two dogs who escape from a vivisection lab and if thought the rabbits had a hard time, then you this one is another level deeper, a lot deeper.

Growing up I saw most of the main video nasties (those who are old enough will know) but now has I am older I find some horror films off putting like hostel 2 (first was fine) a Serbian film (just depressing) murder set pieces I didn't like either. Now I just seen the substance that was fine... Weird but I got it.

"Anyone else here because they view this as a recommendation?"
Yes
If it’s disturbing it’s worth watching, not easy to find a good horror etc and a lot are pure cheese in the genre. |

The recent Saville dramatisation starring Steve Coogan.
I watched it and wish I hadn't made me feel dirty, how could one human being be so sick and twisted,
Made me cry a lot.
Also Amistad, when they just threw the sla ves overboard like they where trash just made me sick to my stomach. |

Ohhh. I enjoyed Braveheart as a movie. What didn't you like about it?" It's was totally historically inaccurate.
They portrayed a Scottish victory, Stamford Bridge, a great triumph in the day for the Scots but they totally missed out it was fought on a bridge, no bridge at all just a bloody big open field.... horrific.
And what was all that blue makeup about? Fucking embarrassing, Mrs x |

Oh god....traumatised aged 8 It was written as a bedside and car journey story for his daughters.
Did he dislike his kids "
No Wiki says
The story began as tales that Richard Adams told his young daughters Juliet and Rosamund during long car journeys. He recounted in 2007 that he "began telling the story of the rabbits ... improvised off the top of [his] head, as [they] were driving along".[6][11] The daughters insisted he write it down—"they were very, very persistent". After some delay he began writing in the evenings and completed it 18 months later.[11] The book is dedicated to the two girls.[12] |

Come and see
It's a lie technically, I have seen it twice, as someone else wanted me to watch it with them.
It's not just disturbing content, but disturbingly shot. Being drawn into the character and their traumatic demise.
It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I think it's a genius masterwork. |

Watership Down is more on the 'sad ending' side than disturbing.
The most disturbing film I've seen is A Clockwork Orange.
Also found The Wicker Man disturbing as it was the first film I can remember which broke with the convention that good triumphs over evil.
I'm sure there are others but luckily I've managed to avoid them. Not my idea of entertainment. |

Anyone seen MDPope 2? I caught a few minutes of it and felt physically sick. It's clippets of real life torture, death, gruesome sexual acts etc. It's definitely not for the faint hearted, I'm sure there are similar videos on the dark web. |

More of a TV drama - "Threads".
Gather it was shown for the first time in close on forty years on BBC4 recently....just as things are ramping up nicely in Eastern Europe. The sooner that c*** Putin dies, the better. |

Glad someone else mentioned Plague Dogs..
I read the book as a teen and it really upset me. Seeing the film adaptation was the same.
There was also a film, can’t remember the name, where a guy gets to heaven and the first thing he sees is his departed dog running towards him through a meadow.
Was way too close to home at the time and I immediately switched off and could never entertain watching that again.
Horrors, no problem but emotional content that hits home I can’t deal with as easily. |

"Anything with bloody Nicholas Cage in it!

Anything with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Especially if he’s wearing a Santa hat. Think I’d rather be drilled with a strap on that then sit through that |

Agreed, felt this about Black Swan. Liked it overall (I think) but absolutely no need to endure it again. |

I think so too, it immediately springs to mind, if someone asks me that question. |

There's a Brian De Palma film called Casualties of War. It's based on a real incident in Vietnam were soldiers abduct a young woman from a village and abused her while one of the soldiers refuses to get involved with the incident.
Great film but I never want to watch it again. |

The Men Behind The Sun: A harrowing and very graphic true story of the horrific experiments carried out upon Chinese citizens by the Japanese during WWII.
It’s a well made film but I wouldn’t venture for a repeat viewing. |

The Evil Dead?"
Yes!!! Traumatised. I was on a night shift in a quiet nursing unit and ended up screaming in a relatives face when she came tip toeing out to me at 3am |

Which Wallace lost, badly.
Getting a few thousand Scots killed in the process.
Stirling Bridge was an ambush, a successful one but it wasn't a battle in the accepted sense of the time.
Wallace was an exceptional guerilla fighter, but he only fought one set-piece battle & lost. |

Yes. the exploding milk bottle on that Sheffield doorstep. Raymond Briggs told a similar story of ordinary people suffering. Both brilliant works. |
