What was the first concert you ever went to?

I have to admit it might have been Gary Glitter. Such a shame he let everyone down so badly as it was an absolutely incredible show. I like everyone else though completely conned by him at the time. |

I went to his show with my Nan when I was 30 and she was 70. We were both too old for him so we were safe to go. Got dressed up though and wore a silver suit and wig. It was a terrific show. |

Savage Messiah. I had never heard of them before. Decided I really needed to go out and see a band. Was close by, cheap and like the week after booking the tickets. Glad I went, they were amazing and really set me up to go see other bands. Still don't listen to any of their music though |

"Great question if you’re out for Sinner with a group of people…
Mine was a band called Carter USM, not many people remember them.
What was yours?"
??? Surely everyone over 40 remembers the Unstoppable Sex Machine that was Carter? |

"Petit Cheval at the University of Natal Durban Student Union in February 1986.
... and none of you have ever heard of them. 😝"
Just googled them..no I'd never heard of them..I think the only South African bands I'd heard of back then were power age and riot squad.. |

I was very young and a friend's Dad drove us, but my first gig trumps all of these: Colston Hall, Bristol, a very long time ago; Mott The Hoople and a strange new band nobody had ever really heard of as support, called Queen. Don't know if they ever came to anything or not..... |

Ah, they weren't good. Poppy middle of the road stuff that appealed to normies. I went because it was in freshers week and it was a party.
We didn't get any international bands worth spit in SA because of the cultural boycott for being the Bad Guys. |

I’ve been listening to them and loving them in last few weeks - I love Billy’s Smart Circus. Are they still together ?
Mine was Beastie Boys |

As far as my parents are concerned, it was going to see Fall Out Boy.
In reality my first gig was a band called HIM. Sadly in Villes less sober days so less of a great experience musically but still epically good, got me hooked on live music anyway. |

My first one was pink with my ex and it was amazing.
However my genre of music is rock and heavy metal and my first rock gig was shinedown in cardiff with asking alexandria as a supporting act 3 years ago. Since then I have packed alot of gigs into my life and now live for them.
Been to download festival 2 years in a row and booked to go next year too. Just love my music |

Metallica in 1993 at MK bowl. Opening act was the almighty, then diamond head followed by Megadeath with Metallica headlining. I was 14 at the time. I had seen some other local bands before but that was my first big act I went to |

Rush, as a 17 year old I had a very good introduction to what a great live act are like… and also what a shit live act are like too, the support act (Primus) sounded like someone throwing instruments down a lift shaft |

"Royal Philharmonic when they played at a cinema in Romford in the 70s. Music by Brahms, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven.
Loved it. "
I was beginning to think I was the only one who knew where 'concerts' got their name from! |

"Swan Lake, Liverpool Empire 1968-ish. School trip!
Ooh. Another one, but isn't that technically a ballet unless they only had the tunes and not the dancing?"
Technically correct but there was a shortish intro by the pit orchestra. I can't remember what they played. We were right in the gods and could barely see a thing. |

"Tangerine Dream at the Fairfield Halls in Croydon, sometime during the mid 1970s. "
I remember going to that one.
I don't remember any of the music because I, as well as many others, fell asleep a number of times during the performance! |
