What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done?
Jump to: Newest in thread
As a broke student I once went on a night out in Leeds, got blackout d*unk, went on a rant with a friend about how “nobody is spontaneous any more” while looking up flights on the internet and deciding to run away and start a new life abroad. Next thing I know I’m waking up the next morning in a bush in Ibiza with only 20p in my pocket and a return flight for 7 days. No hotel. No other money. No plan.
Just had to spend 7 days blagging it until we could get home. Most have lost a stone in a week. |

Unfortunately my payment declined "
Tbf, you probably got off lucky with it declining, I have been watching on youtube the 9 month cruise saga that happened, it sounds like my idea of hell! |

While at a fitting for a morning suit for my wedding at Moss Bros in Chester, I got cold feet, walked out (leaving my best mate and best man behind) and went to the nearest travel agent and booked an 18-30 holiday flying out that night.
Had a great holiday, didnt get married to that one, couldn't go to the town she lived in as her Italian family were baying for blood and changed my locks as her sister threated to cut my cock off.

I played in bands back in the 90's and we'd literally just finished a tour and the tour bus had dropped us off at the rehearsal studio where we stored all our gear. So me and two other band mates were walking back home with just our bags with dirty clothes in and we called in at out local laundrette.
Next door was a travel agents and we saw a deal in the window. So, having a wad of cash in our packets from touring, we bought flights to Amsterdam, packed our bags with freshly laundered clothes and headed straight to the airport. |

I decided, one morning, to go fruit picking in Europe for a couple of weeks. I got on a bus that evening with £120 on me - didn't return home until five years and several continents later. |

I quit a very good job at the drop of a hat. I was fed up of getting ripped off tax and NI. I was fed up of working according to someone else's schedule, etc. I was fed up of working on projects that I knew were futile.
I wanted to be free. |

"I moved to Thailand and spent six months working in various orphanages and refugee camps along the Burmese bother.
Total spur of the moment decision based on an email fired forwarded to me "
Sounds like a fantastic trip, though |

Yesterday I went Maccies to get the wrap of the day. Apparently, it wasn't available all the other wraps where just the wrap of the day.
It's been like that the last three times I've been.
So I went rogue this time and went to KFC instead. Just walked out mid-order.
Ha screw you Ronald, you clown.
It tasted like victory. |

It surely doesn't take 6 months to cruise round the med? You could cycle it in less than 6 months |

Many years ago while walking through Bath one evening with a girlfriend.... seeing some scantily clad ladies and well dressed gents queuing up to go down into a basement club I’d never noticed before... So spontaneously joined the queue... turned out to be Bath Swingers Club (sadly now closed down) ... and started a love affair with Swingers clubs ... |

How did it work out?"

Turned up for work one morning at 8am...buy 8.10am I'd told the boss to stick his job up his arse as was driving home again. Went self employed a few days later. That was 10yrs ago and the best spur of the moment decision I've ever made. |

I am not generally a spontaneous person, Farr too boring and sensible for that
But two things do stick out… buying a horse on the spur of the moment, despite her not being what I’d been looking for. And earlier this year I went digital nomad and booked a trip to the canaries a week after booking and sat out in the sunshine whilst I worked. That’s about as spontaneous as it gets for me |

Growing to intensely dislike a job that I had previously loved and - after one innocuous fall out with a colleague - gave my resignation on the spot.
2 weeks later I relocated to another part of the country for 3 + years and what followed were the happiest 3 years of my life.

"Moving to Spain
Decided Christmas day and actually following through with it.
Was the best decision we have ever made "
Same here, we were looking at a different part of Scotland, and out of the blue Buffy said let's go to Spain. I'd tried to get here to come here before but she said "no, too hot for me" 😆 |

After an offhand comment from a friend, got up at 3am and cycled 200 miles from hobbiton to mordor across New Zealand. I had no plan on what to do at the other end, just wanted to prove I could. Ended up sleeping in a hedge and eating my body weight in mcdonalds breakfast the next day before having to ride the whole thing back home again |

I once went to the charity shop to buy a cardigan. I looked in the window of the Eatate Agents next door. I saw a house for sale in a street I have always liked. I got a viewing that afternoon, put in an offer for the full asking price and bought the house. |

Was heading for a café to buy a coffee. As I walked past the army careers office, decided instead to go in and scrounge a free cuppa from a mate who worked there. Turned out that he'd taken the day off. In my defence, I really disliked living in Telford. Anyway, I started the process that led to six years in the army. |

Our first couple meet was a spontaneous meet with us playing with each other and talking about our fantasy ideas and she said she had a message from a couple and after we exchanged pictures and phone numbers them we had a chat with them about what they were into and what they wanted to do and when they gave us their address and we get ready and go meet them and it was really good fun and it was the first time I had ever seen my wife getting fucked and her first seeing me fuck another girl |

Replied overtly abrasively to a message I received asking me a (to me) daft question.
My response could have been ignored or the recipient could have thought I was a cunt and told me so. Instead, what happened next surprised me. Surprised them too.
An a spontaneous, wild ride it’s been since.

Walked into a Costa™, against my better judgement, and lived to tell the tale. Not that there was much to tell. These things are best left guarded unless there's a thread to open up to and confess. |

I generally like to plan things, but my 12 months travelling was a lovely mix of pre-booked adventures and spontaneous detours.
Deciding to go to Mozambique and do a PADI Advanced Dive course was the best spontaneous adventure. |

Packed my bags and walked away from everyone and everything for a year when I was 20. Life overwhelmed me, I took every penny I had in the world and backpack and left all else behind. Just travelled around Europe and the States, It was an amazing experience. |

I was off work with the rain and browsing right move and saw a flat in an online auction with half an hour left so went to the estate agents asked them to fast track my application to be able to bid, walked back to my van and there was about ten minutes left so placed bid and won. |

Ran away from uni with a boy I'd just met in my first term and didn't tell anyone. Abandoned everything in my room. Left a note saying "gone to live by the sea" and got on a National Express bus to Devon.
I never went back.
And I would absolutely not change that |

Years ago I had a part-time job in a supermarket.
I can't remember what the issue was now but I wasn't happy about something so my manager told me if you don't like it, nobody is forcing you to work here.
I left that evening and never went back. |

Got really angry at a friend who was annoying me that I threw a piece of (my) shit at him in a chimpanzee-like rage.
It soon wiped the smile off his face, as well as lingering traces of excrement. I do have quite a temper on me when pushed. |

Tofo Beach too. Small world.
The diving was amazing.
I took a minibus from Swaziland over to Maputo then 9hr bus up from there to Tofo Beach.
Was well worth it. |

Decided to join the Royal Marines... got through selection phase...completed training and spent 16 years of my life in a career that can never be explained clearly to anyone who hasn't lived it. Travelled globally and experienced things at the maximum ends of emotional...physical...pshycological and moral limits.
But it made me who I now am and despite the remaing damage of that time I don't regret it at all. |

Won a bit of money, so flew to china, got a rail ticket for the transiberian railway, horse trekked in Mongolia, few back to china, walked a big section of the Great Wall.
Everyone else was at home getting their A-level results. I had to call from phone in a hostel in Beijing to get mine.

Maputo, that place was pretty forgettable I recall. Didn't realise it was so far to Tofo, that said i went over 10 years ago. But, yes was lovely, went especially for the Whale Sharks. I was camping but luckily met some wealthy South Africans who let my friend and I stay in their villa. |
