What are you doing and why?
There's no sleep to be had here. No sooner had they turned the lights out then they put 'em on again and started moving my new pal to another part of the hospital, at random. She had been asleep. We've had porters with noisy walkie talkies and now they're cleaning the area right in front of me AND all the commotion has awoken the dementia sufferers. The lady beside me is confused as fuck.
Another night of no sleep at Chez NHS.
Glorious.
What about you? |

I’m attempting to sleep to the soundtrack of my Mersey tunnel mouthed neighbours arguing for the 32296th time this week.
It’s glorious.
The walls are very thin here. According to tonight’s blazer….. he’s a lazy cunt who sits around all day doing nothing, while she’s a whiny moaning bag that should go back to her mothers. |

You should hear what comes out of the mouth of a tiny little old lady with dementia |

Better half been poorly for last 3 or so weeks, so bit frustrated but not putting any pressure on her.
Have a mate-date booked for next Friday with a bestie so will chill and a hug or two; we normally go out weekly but she's been away.
Bought a new car to me, has all the toys, less than two years old. Goes like **** off a shovel.
Oh, might be retired at 53. |

I'm eat my second Wispa bar and wondering if the man I'm chatting to from a different website, is a faker, or really is who he says he is, with his 11.5 inch penis 🤔
We're supposed to be videocalling soon. |

"I'm at doner daddy's getting a cheese burger as it seems like a 4:11am thing to do. "
A cheeseburger is the thing to do at 9pm. A large doner kebab with chilli sauce, mint mayonnaise and salad is the thing to do at 4:11am. |

I was so sleep deprived during my last hospital stay, I started to hallucinate in the daytime. Even if you get to sleep they wake you up at 6am to be weighed and dosed up
But just now I'm relaxing in a warm bed, perving all the hotties... |

"I hope you’ve fallen asleep by now. Hospital wards are always chaotic, especially with the random electric beeps and the odd dickheads that get wheeled in"
I got a few snatched hours between the dementia breakdowns, the moving of patients in/out and associated racket and the incessant need to take your blood pressure in the wee small hours.
I'm knackered. |

"I'm getting upset at the lack of support for a lady of 102 years "
This isn't new sadly. Some 25 years ago I was visiting a friend in hospital. The very elderly and those with dementia were consigned to bed and left there unless there was a medical emergency *that was noticed*. I used to have to harass the nurses and HCAs to do things for my mum such as change a four day old dressing on a head wound that I'd asked them to change on every one of those days or provide those sponges on sticks that wet your mouth. Hospital is literally there to treat people for illness and injury, you'll little personal care and next to no emotional support. It has got to the stage where it's becoming dehumanising.

I've asked them so many times this morning to help her. I've fixed her hearing aids so that she's got a chance to hear what people are saying. She was sick and she still has vomit on her face. I was told it's not my business to ask staff to help her. She's in clear distress.
The lady further down has been buzzing for the loo for ages but no-one is coming. She can't get up alone. |

12 years ago I was on a southend ward after urological surgery. There was an old man of 84 with macular degeneration, nearly blind. It was 1am saturday. He was on iv drip for too long so he "could feel blood" I was young but the predominant age of the male ward was 70+.
We pressed our buttons to get someone. In the end an old man from half a ward away had to get out of his bed to look for assistance. This horrible nurse turned up and said to the old man... "what?" There are times when I feel like these people are actually just abusers perfectly in their perfect job. |

Mostly in my experience the staff are over stretched. They work their socks off and have no time for anything but the basics.
I criticise the system not (most of) the people within it.
I will say that when my mum was actively dying the nurses could not have been more compassionate and the doctor who spoke to my dad was extremely kind. |

"^^ but yeah, there are some horrible medical professionals "
Yesterday's bunch were, to a person, outstanding. They were compassionate, kind, caring and despite the evident pressures and difficulties with staffing etc, they did their utmost for everyone in this bay.
Today's support staff have mainly spent the morning complaining about "god it's going to be frustrating with all these" and how much they dislike the ward etc. The nature of this ward is that most people will need some amount of support, even if they came in independently. There's a lot of joint replacements, fracture surgeries and other things whereby people need a lot of assistance. |

Get the right staff, kick out the shit ones, its not hard to have a "concern" database which would I suppose be a "whistleblower" We can use ai for everything now, but for useful things that can actually "really" help the nhs, its ... crickets and church bells.
Oh, how stupidly idyllic, eh?
