When was the last time you experienced this. I have received it daily recently as I hobble about with a trapped nerve in my back. There are so many kind hearted people out there. Have a great day everyone.x

I was in hospital recently and everyone I met there was so amazingly kind and caring.

It was wonderful to receive such kindness from total strangers.

About thirty years ago when a woman helped me get a screaming child into a pushchair while everyone else walked past.

Being kind to strangers and even people you know is one of the most rewarding things you can do in life

I find it to be quite rare these days. Most people are too wrapped up in themselves to notice others and there's a strong social tendency toward correspondence bias.

E.g.

A homeless person, probably on drugs or lazy.

A guy hobbling, probably hasn't looked after himself and doesn't eat his five a day.

But there are a few people here and there, which makes it feel like something special. That's a bit bittersweet for me as it reflects the scale of its absence socially.

^^ I think the rarity of it is highlighted by the fact that it's commented on when it does happen and people film themselves doing 'random acts of kindness' for likes.

Yes, I have. I was in the queue for passport control and started to feel very unwell. I'm very bad about making a fuss and asking for help. But someone else in the queue spotted me and got me fast-tracked so I was able to sit down. I was very grateful.

I believe that people are basically good and those who are not are very much the exception. I try to pay it forward especially when driving.

Exactly, the exception demonstrates the magnitude of the rule.

That warped social phenomena is more like vomit in my mouth, than bittersweet.

Not any for me personally recently, but on our local FB group there seems to be a fair bit of it, which is lovely.

About 4 years ago a local lady with learning disabilities mistook me for a blind person because I had really dark sunglasses on. She took my arm at crossroads traffic lights, told me it was safe to cross and helped me across the road. I didn't have the heart to tell her I wasn't blind, I just said thank you....x

Bless her heart. I was helped off the train once by a very young man. I wouldn't have minded but I was about 23 myself

I need to be more kind. I need to tell that to myself more often. I think we all need to.

A few weeks ago while going for my weekly shopping with an over tired toddler. I was struggling to put my shopping up and calm her down at the same time while a queue of people started forming behind me. The lady serving me took my daughter out of the trolly and let her sit on her knee and even let her help scan some of the items. I’ve never been more grateful. She was so lovely🥹

I was brought up on a saying "it costs nothing to be nice" and I pretty much live by it.

It amazes me how much larger companies are trying to totally depersonalise things eg helping passengers on or off a bus.

I won't say no or **** off. Thankfully my life is good. I don't have the wealth but my health is reasonable and I can sleep at night and wake up feeling good in the morning.

Mine was about 10 years ago, I had ran out of petrol on the motorbike. A passing couple stopped, then took me to the nearest petrol station, that was about 5 miles away to get some fuel.

I think I’ve been away from home at least five of the last 10 birthdays and people that I don’t know that well have made a big fuss, made plans, food, cakes etc. That means a lot

It's what we should all aspire to be. Helping our fellow humans. It's not hard to do. And you get a great feeling from just being kind.

I try to be kind to people every day

Last week i was coming off the motorway and a young lady with a child had broken down and were stood on the verge.

I stopped and asked if they wanted to phone someone but they had help coming. The child was freezing so i gave him my jacket. I stayed with them for a couple of minutes until help arrived as the child was scared, then i was on my way

Gives you a nice feeling inside when you help people
