I've always liked the idea of fancy dress but have always been too shy and self conscious so I have never done it.
After being a bit uncertain, I have decided to go for it this weekend and have bought 2 costumes for the parties at the club I go to.
It just clothing (Doctor and Prisoner) as I'd prefer to change as the club rather than wear them on the train and walking to and from the station.
I'm looking forward to wearing them and seeing what everyone else is wearing.
Is anyone else really excited?
Any other first timers? |

Well done for doing something that scares you.
I was always too self-conscious for fancy dress until a couple of years ago. Now I love dressing up It helps break the ice, gives talking points and somehow being a character gives me a bit more confidence.
I'll be dressing up tomorrow.
Hope you have a good time, OP. |

I guess my fancy dress is a solo indoor thing, I've a love of native American culture, so I put on my loin cloth wig, breast piece, war paint, and try and re create movies, better if I had a few friends or cowboys to recenact with, got a bow and tomahawk, just replicas, but anyone else keen to chat and dress with, don't mind be stalked in a wood , just a fantasist I guess

Do it and own it - there was a Nuns and Priests party at a club and other than me as a priest and a guy who came as a Bishop (real items of clothing - where the hell did he get..) no other men had dressed up… there were however no end of naughty Nuns…
Had a wild time, didn’t feel self conscious and no end of people chatting, having fun and fucking…

I did my costume last weekend, but I enjoy dressing up and have occasionally done cosplay for cons. When you’ve attended a few comicons seeing people on public transport in full costume becomes normal lol |

A couple of years ago a friend and I went to a Halloween themed rock orchestra performance, and decided to dress up. I wore the skeleton costume from the pics in my gallery, with a tutu and day of the dead headress and some skeleton face makeup. We got the train in full costume and make up.
I was nervous as hell as I'd never felt so 'exposed' before, but once we were on the train, everyone was so complimentary about our outfits that it made me feel really good. It was a great conversation starter!
I'm now a huge fan of feeling the fear and doing whatever it is anyway! |
