Seems a good choice when reuniting in a changed age.
Here's hoping she is judged on her own merits and not compared with incomparable Chester.
I've only heard her do one tune with them and it was ............... uhmmmmmm okay but dave wasn't too hot singing one of his own songs from way back either.

I thought she performed well considering the big shoes she's trying to fill.
I think she'll be accepted more once they release more original stuff where she can showcase her style better rather than mimicking Chester's on the old songs. |

Absolutely love the new song Emptiness Machine.
It's still quintessential LP , obviously it was always going to be difficult for anyone to come in I think in choosing a female singer they have managed to avoid how to get someone who isn't Chester as a male singer was going to be virtually impossible to choose as they would have to be completely different or exactly the same.
I think they have chosen well. |

I’m a big fan saw them at 02 in 2010 x
I think there as such a clamour for the group to continue as Shinoda was as much the leader as Chester x
So I think a girl singer is different enough but her voice has moments when it’s similar to Chester’s .
Rob Bourdon the original drummer has left though . |

Having listened to the emptiness machine, I've gone from thinking it was alright, to thinking it was crap, but it seems to be growing on me again now after hearing it on alt rock night at xtasia on the big sound set |

I think she's a good singer but I don't think her voice fits the old Linkin Park feel or sound. Personally, I think a male vocalist's voice would have worked better but I also understand it would still be incredibly difficult to find that person. Interested to hear some new original tracks though 😁

Yes no one can replace Chester. But a band is more than Chester. I think it's really good to see them together again and hopefully enjoying being Linkin Park again. As for the new signer that is for the band to decide, its their band. They need to choose the personality, energy and voice they want to work with.
My personal opinion on the Emily Armstrong is I'm not feeling it at the moment. Not that she could ever be Chester or the band could ever be the same again. But again there's probably more behind the scenes that makes her a good fit because we are not in their shoes or have their experience what it was like to be with Chester creatively and professionally.
So I'm definitely going to give this time and see how it goes. Hopefully they'll concentrate their efforts to move forward as a band, as Linkin Park with new material and new energy.

Anyone know who wrote the lyrics for The Emptiness Machine? Wondering if it's old lyrics that Chester had input or if Emily did. Just out of curiosity. Looking forward to the new album.
This song has hit me pretty much the way Hybrid Theory did when I was 15. I've recently left a very long relationship and for me this song relates to someone trying to find the strength to leave a toxic relationship and person.
This song has tied in with an event in my life that while traumatic has actually freed me. |

I don't mind that they've found a new singer, however I am disappointed with their new sound.
I don't feel like they represent what Linkin Park was. I think they should have reinvented the band - keeping the Linkin Park name just doesn't feel right.
I'm not against them finding a new lead singer - but I just don't like them using the same name.
