With the weather turning my mind is turning to slippers. Why are they called slippers? Why do they make those ones without backs that fall off your feet at inopportune moments? What’s your favourite kind of slippers? Do you own slippers? What are your slippers like? Talk to me about all things slippers.

I tend to go for moccasin style. Traditional slippers don't appeal, the backlessones that fall off my feet drive me crazy, but I hate hate cold feet, and I'm too lazy to change my footwear if I need to nip outside... so moccasins are like indoor shoes, keep my feet warm and cozy, but will also let me step outside if I have to without soaking up every puddle I don't realise I'm stepping in |

Might keep an eye on this for slipper reviews . My mind hasn’t turned to the slipper as such but it’s reminded that I am currently the owner of a solitary serviceable slipper ! Its matching slipper can no longer be classed as a slipper , it’s the artist formerly known as slipper since my two dogs decided to have an ownership dispute over said slipper ! It now resides a shadow of its former self in the dog toy basket . Hopping isn’t ideal in a slipper . |

I have numerous pairs. Keep one set downstairs, one pair upstairs, and a further pair in my garden office (also two brand new pairs in a cupboard). I have a mother in law who buys me a set each birthday. This must stop. One can have too many pairs. |

You made me curious, Mrs TMN...
"The recorded history of slippers can be traced back to the 12th century. In the West, the record can only be traced to 1478. The English word "slippers" (sclyppers) occurs from about 1478. English-speakers formerly also used the related term "pantofles" (from French pantoufle)." |

Slipper hopping is foolhardy at best! |

You paint such an evocative and cathartic story. A tragic story of death in service 💛 |

My daughter bought me some fur-lined ones they've got a really good sole on them too can drive to them, pop the shop in them.
All I need now is the Pendleton Westerly cardigan and I am living the dream. |

That’s odd. If memory serves, slippers were actually invented in 1573 by Angus McSlipper of the McSlipper clan. The sole was a flatfish (hence sole) and the top was wool gathered from spiky hedgerows bordering sheep fields. The wool was secured to the fish using thread made of Angus’s hair. They were very slippery, hence the name. But Angus failed to patent his invention and has since been overlooked in the recorded history of the slipper. Look it up, the real origin story is all there on justiceformcslippersslipperyslippers dot com. |

Soft and supple leather ones. Luxurious velvet ones. Swede mocasin ones. You name it. There are about at least half a dozen around at any one time. Not to mention the numerous havainas and sandals in the summer (not quite slippers though) oh and lots of those free ones you get in nice hotels |

Love a pair of slippers. Don't even care if it's sad. There mostly cosy ones for winter. Loads of different patterns that make me smile. From ying yang to smiley faces. Plus they feel nice and much better than walking on cold floors. |

I'm an all day slipper wearer and of the opinion that you can't beat M&S slippers. Nice full back ones, sturdy soles for nipping the bins out.
Rubbishy spa type slippers for wandering around clubs, bright white so you don't lose them in the dark.

I have M&S boot ones. Super comfy, very warm and you can go into the garden in them. I wear them year round as I mostly work from home and get very cold sitting still. Plus whatever the kids have spilt doesn't soak through |

"This is what I love most about Christmas, every year I get a new pair of slipper boots, forget everything else its all about the slippers for me 🤗"
But, but, but - surely you never use up the one set in a year! I have five on the go (well two are still in their packets in the cupboard) because I used to be given a pair each Christmas. |

I used to love my slippers but then I clocked all the grotty chavs popping down to Asda for their funded cigarettes and rustlers cheeseburgers while wearing ridiculous fluffy numbers. Urgh.
Now I keep a slaughtered tauntaun by the sofa to slide my feet into. And I thought they smelled bad……….

Maybe it is cos I have three sets on the go at one time (upstairs, downstairs and office) and to get to the garden office (shock horror) I wear crocs! |

I wear my abarcas in the house as slippers. Occasionally with a sock to enhance thermal properties. My feet rarely touch the floor anyway and I delegate bin putting-out to others
However, one can go outside in the pouring-est of rain and not get my soles wet |

Not a fan of the ones without a back, I always go for a pair of moccasin type slippers. |

I was having a conversation with a very sexy fab friend only yesterday about fluffy slippers. The conversation turned to sexy slippers, and as part of my research I searched that famous amazonian shop for 'sexy slippers'.
Suffice to say the results returned were not quite what I expected, but did give me a bit of a giggle... If you do the same let me know what you got returned and we can see if the algorithms have improved! |

They're a kind of sandal favoured in the Balearic Islands and similar places. |
