Anyone else think that having to read 42 pages worth of a profile is off putting?
I understand certain things need to be said but sometimes just the sheer amount of text on a profile can be off putting.. just me? |

Then bypass them and move onto the ones who put little effort it. Not always, but those who've put more effort into their profile write ups with more information are often the more genuine ones on here.
Plus, if you can't even be arsed or trusted to read a profile, how are you to be trusted between the sheets?
Just our take on it. |

All these points have been valid. But when you jump on a profile and youre reading some pure shite that isnt needed.. dont you think that takes away from conversation when they say "havent you read my profile" when you ask the question? |

I have rewritten my profile a few times.
I kind of think it is a bit long but I wanted to get the points I made across to everyone.
I would love to know if people think it is too long ?? |

Profiles help to filter out the unsuitable. There are many literary and photographic devices that can help you along.
The beauty of a profile is that it's entirely yours to get it just right for you but not the wrong'uns |

No, because you can converse about something else instead. Why ask questions that are answered in the profile text? |

It passes the time and some are rather interesting.
Though I must admit not keen on a list of 100 donts or the ones that leave absolutely nothing to talk about in a conversation.
Then again is not for me to say. Everybody likes different things and people can choose how they present themselves |

Your profile is fine. Outlined what you want and reads clear. |

If they are off-putting why are you even getting to the stage of messaging them?
If I found something that annoying the last thing I would be doing would be typing a message or trying to start a conversation.
That just says straight away that you think the profile doesn't apply to you. |

Dear OP, Fab doesn't offer the facility to paginate profiles on here, unless something new has been introduced and I didn't receive the memo.
Profiles exist on one screen only, for you to scroll up and down.
I enjoy detailed profiles as long as they are meaningful, interesting and downright enthralling. ♥️ |

"Some do drag a bit, but I'll persevere until I get to the dos and don'ts then I'll probably just block them as we are here for fun, not to be held to rules."
Wow... Rules are the most important part. |

I think it’s a fine balance. Profiles with next to nothing come across as fake. Love a good profile read but some do go over the top. Suppose women get too many messages so try to limit that by saying what they are after. |

No. It takes away from the conversation when someone hasn't bothered to engage with the information available to them. |

It depends on how interesting the profile is.
If it is 94 pages of tedium with them using the words no, not and never in capitals, then I'll move on. They're probably quite tedious in person and we'll never get on |

I bet you my crusty french stick caked in pate that you aren't even reading a bio and are going straight to the 'tits section'.

"if my profile is putting some people off then its working as my profile should ..im not here for most im here for the few"
This. Our profile is long. Read it is you wish, don't if you cant be bothered.
But we only tend to engage with those who indicate in messages they have.
If that reduces the pot of people available to us on here, hey ho. |

"If it’s engaging I like a read.
Not a shouty capital letter rant though.
I personally like ones with some humour thrown in. That’s keeps me reading it all " I enjoy reading the profile the pictures say wow but the reading gives you a look at the personality and weather they have a gsoh which we need on here too |

Some rules like you must be taller than me when I'm wearing heels or I won't meet. Are a little idiotic .

To you perhaps.
But not to the person writing the profile. |

Obviously, as it's their profile !!!
Hence my choice to block them as it's not for me , which I thought the discussion was all about ! |

I think that yours is very well and clearly written and explains the key things about you. It is fairly long, but I think not too long, and if someone can’t be bothered to read that much they are probably just going to waste your time or not be the sort of man that you want to meet anyhow.
A reasonably detailed profile should avoid wasting your own time and other people’s in exchanging messages only to realise that you and they have incompatible desires. |

If it's an interesting profile yes, I'll read through it all even if I'm not their type. If it's just a 42 page rant and list of demands. No I just move on, I'm single I don't come on here to get nagged at on a profile.
But I do understand some people will just message women/couples without reading or being in their preferences. |

"Each to his own, sometimes better to read 42 pages than yo waste two weeks of convo and discover you are not matched "
Exactly this, I have time to read a profile, I don't have time to invest in someone who's isn't compatible, would have saved time if I'd have not spoke to start.

"Long profiles can be ok if they're formatted properly and the person knows basic english...
Oftentimes that's not the case."
I feel that the issue you are alluding to here is precisely that they do know basic English?? |

I hold no objections to lengthy, succinct, or moderate profiles. Nonetheless, I anticipate that an examination of such a profile will afford me a lucid and genuine insight into the individual in question.
No pretence or artifice—merely an exposition of their expectations towards the reader, a transparent comprehension of their own essence, and indications of any beguiling qualities that might suggest our compatibility.
Those who indulge in deception or concoct spurious narratives are inevitably unceremoniously unmasked, invariably failing to convey a true authenticity and sense of themselves.

My profile is lengthy. It used to be even longer. I’ve truncated it. 🤣
Aside from the clear non readers, the length of my profile is not indicative of generating a lack of interest from those interested.
There’s also something to be said about quality within verbosity. Some have rather lengthy profiles and have of it is filled with useless warnings and legalise that holds no water. |

For me it means that I'd not be compatible with people who don't want to take time to read my bio.
I list what I'm into etc and if people can't take 2 mins to read it, how would they know if we'd be into the same etc.
I have that I'm not meeting on the 2nd line of my profile and people still don't even read that.
I've had my profile long like now and shorter and there are still those who didn't read it.
You're best off skipping those profiles you deem too long, it's cool if people skip mine, as long as they then don't message me.

Yes it does take away from the conversation.
I generally lose interest is someone asks something that very clearly stated on my profile |

How about people manage their profiles as they wish, be it long or short - and it’s up to us if we choose to interact with them.
It’s also another useful filter to narrow the pool of people you would be most likely compatible with. |

"It's those that have swallowed a thesaurus I watch out for, they give me a headache after one paragraph."
🤣👀Exactly, an idealistic outcome. It’s the greatest filter. Perfect kryptonite.
Should I ever embark upon the pursuit of companionship from here once more, I would undoubtedly issue a cautionary advisory
⚠️⚠️ with this profile .. should you be incapable of perceiving this, comprehending it, or begin to demonstrate distress or physical pain whilst reading it, kindly do us both a favour & clear off forthwith. ⚠️⚠️ |

It depends what the first few lines are. If it starts with a list of negatives, or rules, then I won’t read any further.
If it’s interesting and positive then yes sure I’ll read it all to find out more about the person.
The only time I don’t read profiles is when they’re giving off negativity. |
