Somewhere In The Ether…

Ey up good folks 😃

We’ve had copious cake threads.

We’ve had a bounty of biscuit threads….

…..but I’ve never seen any praise on here for the glory that is Trifle!

By the power of Greyskull! - Let’s set this right shall we?

My fine folks; Trifle……please discuss 👍🏻

I make it at Christmas sometimes. But there's too much dairy for my delicate tum and some of the dairy free alternatives don't Trifle as well.

I've not had trifle for bloomin' ages.

Love it have my great grandmothers trifle bowl, which is brought out for special occasions. Has to have hundreds and thousands on the top though else it's just not right

What evil sorcery is this?! I behold some disdain for the mighty trifle?!

Surely this must be the work of Skelator!

Trifle Fact: Did you all know that Trifle appeared in cookery books in the sixteenth century?

Well, you do now 👍🏻

Absolutely no love lost here for the trifle 🤢 love all the individual components but why the flippety flip go mixing them all together in some sort of soggy slimy mush?!

Exactly! It's a textural nightmare.

Used to love it as a kid - my mum made them very regular for Sunday pudding.

Now though, I'd probably avoid all that mushy, slushy, gloopiness slopping around in my tum. 🤢

Funny how tastes change as you get older.

I've not had a trifle for years.

When I used to eat them though they were sans Jelly ...... loaded with fruit and juice a small smear of custard and LASHINGS of fresh cream...... mmmmmm

no more though ..... im vegan ...... sigh ........

Hmmm my spidey sense is detecting a correlation of dislike as regards the gloopiness (is that a new word? Yay if so! 👍🏻) associated with trifle 🧐

Lo! Savour the taste though; Is it not exquisite?

A perfect, chilled summer desert.

Go on….you know you want one now….. 😜🥰

I love trifle, but no jelly thank you! I also love tiramisu which is kind of trifle adjacent.

In fact I'm eating some tiramisu right now and I started singing a happy song to myself. B tells me apparently gorillas do that too. Not sure of the point he's making, or if he's just sharing a fun fact 🤔🦍

I'm not into fruit, the only trifle I like is a birds one at Christmas. Although since I make it now, it's never the same as when my mum made it

Recently in M andS, chap in front of me with about a dozen meals for one.

Cashier scans 12 meals for one without comment.

Gets to his trifle, looks at the meals for one, "did you know this trifle is for 4?"

Man - "uh huh......"
