The word “chunder” meaning someone has been sick comes from “watch under”, this was shouted from the multi level boats when someone leaned over the side to be sick at sea so anyone below didn’t have the sick land on them |

Yesterday I had lunch in Leadenhall Market, London. Two facts: (1) it was built on the site of the Roman Londinium Forum c.70 CE and (2) it was used as the film location for Diagon Alley in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone |

This is also true. He was also originally cast to play the good guy, but was cast as the antagonist instead |

Giraffes have the same number of vertebrae as humans do.
Human skin is striped, but the stripes are invisible to us; cats are able to see them, though! There are some people with a condition that makes them visible. |

Cheddar was discovered by accident over 800 years ago when a milkmaid left a pail of milk in the nearby Cheddar Gorge caves and returned some time later to find the milk had turned into a new tasty substance – cheese! |

"clitoris is Greek for divine and goddess like x"
First, may I say that my post is not intended to fact-shame anyone else's posts. But as this thread is about random (and interesting) facts, it would be great if we could learn the correct facts.
I'm afraid neither of your definitions is correct. The English spelling 'clitoris' is a borrowing from Latin; the etymology (origin) of which is from the ancient Greek 'kleitoris', meaning "little hill" and has absolutely nothing to do with divinity or ancient goddesses.
Posts on X, formerly Twitter, where your definitions are taken from, is merely light-hearted, opinionated hearsay x |

When does a 'fact' become a 'fact' ?
I prefer the derivation from the verb to the form kleíein, meaning shut or sheath.
sheath seems far more probable than 'little hill' ......
Next Fact ! |

The rings of Saturn are about 175,000 miles wide but they are only about 10 meters thick! To put it in perspective if you scaled this down it would mean the rings are thinner than a sheet of paper!

The history of the (discovery of?) The clitoris is actually really interesting.
The first description we have of it, distinct from the whole female genital area is from a monk, who described it's purpose 'for the devil to suck the soul out of the woman'. Several hundred years later a medical Dr described it as the organ that produces female sperm, that fight with the male sperm to decide the sex of the child.
What I want to know, is how a monk got an answer that is more accurate than the supposed Dr hundreds of years earlier? No wonder we don't trust science |

The phrase ‘piss poor’ comes from the 1800s when family’s that were too poor to eat would save their urine to sell to tanners in leather factories. If you had to sell your piss to be able to eat you were piss poor |

I believe it can also be translated as to rub...which is actually thought to be an original play on words. |

Plus they used to keep it in a pot but if you were really poor and didn’t even have a pot that’s where the saying “haven’t got a pot to piss in” comes from. |
