Inspired by Mobilebottom.

Just what IS the average girth of a cake?

Can one increase the girth of one's cake?

Have cakes got girthier in recent years or is my mouth just really small?

With clever cream and icing my tiny cupcakes can look massive

A bit like with blokes on Fab, it is possible to get a skewed opinion of what’s average. There are some cafés around where, unless you set aside a good 20 minutes, your gag reflex would be severely tested

What if one doesn't have a gag reflex?

What is the average size of a cake?

Here's a breakdown of servings for standard round cake sizes: 6-inch: Typically serves eight people. 8-inch: Can serve 12–14 people. 10-inch: Serves up to 20 people.10 Jan 2024

😶

I do believe these claims may be similar to some of those on fab

With reference to the cake 🤭 I'd be disappointed at the expectation of six inches serving 8 and that before the realisation of fab:life ratio and exaggeration... no gag reflex needed as it'd barely touch the sides

Girth is king. I don’t care how long your Swiss roll is, but it’s got to be a proper chubber. I want to use a whole hand to cradle my virgin slice.

Sara Lee gateaux were so small I used to polish off a whole one easily. With a spoon.

Depends on how many filthy layers are created KC!!! I mean you can stack cake upon cake upon cake. You’re going to need a bigger boat.

Everything seems to be shrinking. Girth should be a protected cake characteristic with minimum requirements

The most requested size for my Victoria Sponge cakes is 8" Diameter followed by a few 10" cakes.

I have in the past made a few 12" diameter Christmas Cakes but no orders for any this year.
