Does anyone have one of those bbq rotisseries for spit roasting? My oven has a rotisserie function I ocassionally use but fancy one of those outside charcoal ones but not sure what to get. They seem to vary so much in price. Also some are manually operated and some battery powered. Any advice? Thanks. |

"Would love a good spit.roast "
They are great when cooked slowly over the coal. I think the powered turning ones are better as they keep going round allowing the meat to cook slowly without burning. |

Depends if you know what you are doing . Ironically applicable for both terms.
If you actually know how to grill you'd want a timed automatic one as you can control the speed the distance from the heat or smoke source. If you are just doing it for kicks once a year it won't really matter because you won't know the difference.
I cook grill BBQ bake etc and had a custom built smoker with separate smoke box cast iron charcoal and wood capable smoker. I'm also Texan so once moved here I had one built similar specs but it was an old oil drum attached welded to one from b&Q. They currently have one listed that's decent. Type in b&Q Houston smoker. There's no rotisserie attached but you can get a stand and manually move it and apply your basting sauce on your own. I prefer beer can chicken holders no moving needed and it tastes the same dude to the can stand and steam made.
Plenty of benefits to basting and split roasting with someone experienced in delivering oral satisfactory results. |
