Last week, during the fantastic Manchester Lounge Social 😍 I noticed almost everybody was smoking. 🚬
I know, we were nervous 🫦😬to finally meet all the beautiful people we have been chatting for ages with.
But the fact is that we lied in our profile, maybe just a little” lie to maximise the chances 👩❤️💋👨👨❤️💋👨👩❤️💋👩 🤥 …I guess 🤔
Yes, there are little and big lies here.
The question is:
Firstly, Why do we lie?
Secondly, Which ones do you thing are the usual FAB lies.

I try to be as up front and honest as possible. I hope people I like do the same.
I can't say I've ever noticed if someone's profile says smoker or not. But then it's not something that matters to me 💜 |

I don't lie in my profile. It's said I'm a smoker for quite some time.
What I have noticed is lots of people don't pay attention to it, don't notice it and then I have to point it out. Darn my boobs and voice for distracting people.
I don't mind if people lie about it on their profile, don't give enough fucks to be bothered. Unless they go on about how disgusting it is and lo behold they're a "social" smoker. Then I think for a second, you're a bit of a throbber and move on.  |

"I find it odd behaviour when someone says they lied about their age. As in admit they are older in their message. "
At that point they're already past the filters for the age.
It does make an instant no for me though.
I especially like when their profile says one age, their message says another, and then they've clearly used their birth year in their username and it's definitely not equating to either 💜 |

I think it’s interesting how many Fab people smoke. I hardly ever meet smokers in my day to day life. I think only two people I work with smoke. But at a Fab social, like Veronica says, there’s everyone heading outside for a cig. I wonder why that is? |

Group socials can be nerve-wracking until you relax into it and get settled. I had a cigarette at MLS and I haven't smoked for years and years. It was pretty gross tbh  |

I think anything said that is definitely not true is a bit off.
That being said, I take age with a pinch of salt anyway. It's a given women are always 21 (+VAT) and I know some men will be flexible due to age brackets on here. The reality though is I've met some young 60+ people and "old before their time" younger people. |

But yeah, people shouldn’t lie about smoking. No chance in hell I’ll be involved sexually with a smoker.
Maybe having been a passive smoker from pretty much birth till my mid-20s has something to do with it but it’s a habit I loathe and I hate the smell. Can smell it miles away so can’t be sexually involved with a smoker in any way, shape or form. #sorrynotsorry |

We've spoke to a "non smoker" in a club who stunk of smoke 
Someone had their 60th birthday party at a club but their profile said they were 42!
The hosts of a under 40s preference night are in their mid 40s, but have miraculously become younger and are now mid 30s  |

On a 121 meet the truth, within parameters, is important.
At a social group meetup, don't really care, we'll chat to anyone as long as they chat back.
We've met some people at socials, clubs and holidays who, from their profile, seem not to fit our bill but on face to face meeting, they are wonderful.
We'll done to all of you who actually meet and make the effort to attend.

Lots of people won't smoke at work. I don't. I don't like the way it clings to my clothes if I'm seeing clients. But... throw in alcohol, some nerves, a more relaxed atmosphere... lots of people smoke. |

People lie about loads of stuff unfortunately. I've met a few people that said they didn't smoke only to find out they did. It doesn't bother me because I'm a smoker but I've never lied about it. I don't like people lying about their age, that bothers me. A couple of months or even a year out to not put their DOB on here, I get but when people lie about years, it's different.

We lie about our name it isn't Mr and Mrs Nicecouple561, our location it is east Sussex but we're not specific, our actual date of birth it's the correct year but not the correct month and we lie by omission about our previous career.

I've met men (I'm not looking for women, but the same will apply) who lied about age-some by a lot of years, height, body size-out of date pics, smoking, relationship status, and what they like to do to women/are looking for.
They do it so they don't get turned down.
I once set my age higher then lower, to throw people I knew personally off the scent, and found the higher age attracted more age play requests; which is why I went lower for a while.
I couldn't lie about anything else as I'd feel so embarrassed when I met someone.

Age and height is the thing I have noticed but as long as it’s not a long way off it doesn’t bother me. I can understand why people do it.
I think mine is pretty honest. I may feel the need to chop a couple of years off as I get a bit older but I don’t see the need at the moment.
Having said this I’ve not read my profile in a while so i better go and check it out 😬

The age thing , all of a sudden they're adding years on to try and get a meet with us!
We don't have anything to hide on here so there's no need to lie. Yes I'm 57 still doing manual construction work and I sometimes feel it ! Partner is 60 and in my opinion looks great . |

I've seen lots of "non smokers" here who have pics of them with cigs in hands/mouth. So that's deffo a common lie..
Fab single and straight are probably the other 2 biggest lies on here, along with lowering your age to get round filters.
The only lie on my profile is my age, it's set a few weeks older than I am. It will match my actual age in the next couple of weeks. |

Sadly people will bend truths so that they can try and get meets, with those who wouldn't meet them if they were honest.

I don’t hide it, I know many of the women smoke anyway and it’s never stopped me meeting others even non-smokers.
The lies I observe most on here - being single/available, age, smoking, no tattoo's.
If you lie about the little things I imagine you lie about much bigger things. For several months of the year my age is out by one because I don’t want fab knowing my star sign |

I put my actual date of birth on here.
My height is real when I’m shoeless. I’m never that short and most people comment on my height when they meet me. Shoes of course, so not a lie.
My body type is accurate. My pictures too.
My real name is technically not Bella. There are few people in real life that know me as anything other than Bella though. I’ve gone by Bella more than 3/4 of my life.
My one lie, my hair is naturally curly and I show photos with my hair straight. Unless you’re swimming with me or we get caught in a surprise rainstorm you’d never know. |

As a single guy on FAB the 3 FAB lies i hate the most are SINGLE, when in fact you are married. NON smoker, when in fact you smoke like chimney and SAFE sex when it's not at all.
As it happens, i'm single, smoke and do safe or bare.
The point is, all 3 are on my profile......................but who reads profiles..............even couples don't bother. |

I try to understand why someone would do this.
On one hand, I say ffs they have some balls! Big, big balls! Tot see another person face to face knowing you’re not who you presented. How can they not feel embarrassed?
On another, I think they lack respect and just assume if I got them this far, they’ll stay. That’s just wrong. Deceitfully “winning” people is a great loss. |

I try to understand why someone would do this.

It doesn't matter to me one way or another but I'm always surprised at the number of people on here who say that they don't drink at all. It seems over half post this Yet according to statistics 85% of over 55-year-olds drink regularly.
Of course the obvious conclusion is that if I am with somebody who says they don't drink they are in with a good chance of seeing some action !!

Our location isn’t exact - several miles difference.
The smoking thing is annoying - we don’t meet smokers but then you’ll get social smokers or people who vape who will say they are none smokers.
It’s not only the smell and taste, it’s that they spend most of their time outside, so you can’t get to chat to them.
A social we went to a few months ago, we arranged to meet a couple there who we were excited about. They spend most of the night outside vaping so we couldn’t even get a chat going.
Oh and ‘single people’ not stating on their profile they have a partner. I appreciate people who do mention it in their profile as you can choose whether to engage then - the ones who don’t and then tell you in chats once they have their foot in the door is annoying!

My profile reflects me as I am now. Photos are all current to the date they were posted. Age, height and location are as stated. I don’t smoke. As I’m squidgier than I was when I first created my current profile I’ve changed to curvy in the description.

I’ve been honest in my profile the one that gets me is height, I’ve had a few where they’re not as tall as they say, I turned up before expecting to meet a 6 foot guy and they’ve actually shorter than me.

It says Mr and Mrs. Technically, we're not until October this year. But hey, that's alright, right? Haha.
The other thing I'm slightly concerned about is the amount of lies about smokers and non smokers.
Mrs has Asthma and the strong smell of smoke sets it off. So we unfortunately don't meet smokers for that reason. Can't imagine Mrs J finding it a turn on trying to suck a cock or fucking whilst coughing her guts up, for her or the other person.

Depends on what the omission is, probably. We omit our specific location but that's a safety decision. Despite not giving out our address, we had someone turn up one evening at our old house and refused to leave. We were at home with our child. We ARE in the NW of England. Yeah lying about age, height etc is pointless, your going to get caught out. I can totally understand why some people lie about personal stuff like real name and location.(that's just being cautious of all the weirdos out there). My problem is that I have probably been too honest. So from now on I'm really 6'2", gym fit, non smoking and somewhere between 30-45 .... honest |

I made a gross mistake when I first joined. I told the truth about everything. Wrongly thinking everyone would be as authentic, honest, lean in to and be open.
Fuck was I wrong. the number of fake names, fake heights, fake intent, etc.. I swear being honest here many times has put me at a disadvantage.
However, I feel now it’s not only a great filter, but helps differentiate me. I might not speak to many privately, but honesty appears to be at great ‘quality’ filter.

Something I personally find frustrating, because oftentimes, it's incredibly difficult to keep going in/out of a venue. Sometimes, it's very, very difficult to go in/out and once you're in, you're in for the duration. I find I miss out on lots of opportunities for quieter conversations or time to get out of loud noise.
I've never ever smoked in my life, so I don't want to go out for that either.

I'm pleased about that in 99.9% of buildings I go in, everywhere, because hardly any are free access in/out. Most buildings involve lifts (that don't work in fires) or waiting for manual ramps etc. |
