What small things make you feel good?
For me, it's the start of a new day, when the sun is in the sky, and I step out into the garden and see the birds flying high and the butterflies all having fun. It makes me feel so good to be alive. You know what I mean! |

A nice message from my kids or gf. An unexpected connection, a pleasant surprise.... Kids playing... Bluesky... Birds singing... Cut grass... |

Oh we are *insufferably* romantic. One time I was sent away for 2 weeks for work training. Not only did we do a video call every single evening, when I was on my way home my wife actually booked a hotel and drove to a town closer to where I'd been so we could reunite quicker. XD |

I really like when my drink is at the right temperature. You know cold is ice cold, a hot drink is hot.
I also really like messages from friends and family and erm people.
I like smiling at random people and it's returned. Those little fleeting moments of human interaction are lovely.
I like when I'm reading a page and before I know it a chapter has gone past and I feel all happy and immersed in to a new world.
I love the very early hours of the morning when the world is quiet and I can sit in my garden and drink and just be for a little bit. No disturbances. |

Yeah, I get what you're saying HK. Mine is now 30 and I don't get as many "I love you Mum" anymore
Maybe, I should get another dog |

I like early morning when no one bothers me.
I like late nights when no one bothers me.
Waking up to the sound of rain.
Showers by fairy lights.
First coffee of the day.
Last wine of the day.

I like the smell in the air after a rainstorm.
I like the sun when it’s beaming down on my skin kissing me with its heat.
I love the sound of others laughing. Especially if I’m sharing in laughter with them.
I love the purposeful, skilful dancing some people can achieve with words. Not to be confused with mindless alphabet soups that leave you wondering what that fuck you’ve read.
I love the seaside: the saltiness of the sea, the breeze, the sound of the waves bashing back and forth, the endlessness of the sea.
I love the sound of heels across a wooden floor. Especially if it’s someone else that’s walking in them.
I love waking up way too early to catch a sunrise. The slow and at the same time sudden change from darkness to light. The stillness and quietness of that early hour.
I love the comfort of my solitude. Being alone. Thinking. Memories running through my mind both recent ones and more distant ones. The ability to just be. I do love the company of select people too but I find myself needing solitude after socialising too.
I love a cosy fuzzy blanket, cold to the touch but keeping warm. I wrap myself in them like a little burrito. It’s heavenly. |

As with Meli, I'm also very similar to you too ... early morning and late night are my favourite times of the day, when the world is a quieter place. And I can happily sit by the patio door for hours listening to the rain |

Now that is awesome, done that many a time myself, just sat there and watched the icebergs float past.. |

It's all about the small things..
Hearing the wind ,rustle through the leaves.
The way the light hits the dew drops, first thing in the am.
The sound of the fat rain hitting the ground.
The playful sounds of my kids belly laughing.

"True care, truth brings
These are indeed, I believe, the foundation to happiness ... when we are fortunate enough to experience them, that is."
I was trying to quote the first lyrics of the blink-182 song but I guess I should have been more obvious
But I do agree |

Sometimes you need that change in life to realise how beautiful it is. Appreciate it even more.
After a rather serious health scare last year, I'm even more determined to live mindfully. Enjoy those little happies in my day. I hope you keep enjoying them OP, giving up the rat-race sounds like it's bringing you so much happiness. |

Haha, it was a very long time ago but I remember what that was like. However, I did always enjoy Christmas morning when my son and step-daughters came bounding onto our bed, with their stockings full of goodies |

Although I live close to the beach here, it's a bit of a hike back up the cliff path, so I don't do it very often now. But when I lived in Greece it was a daily summer morning ritual to watch the sunrise, while having a dip in the sea. Happy days x |

It's just beautiful that so many are commenting on the small things in nature, that we quite often take for granted when we are busily going about our lives |

I hope everything is ok with you now Meli . My change of pace has come about after a few years of serious health issues. It took me a while to adjust, but I'm now grateful for those experiences, as they have taught me just how short, and fragile, life can be and so, yes, like you, I am living more mindfully and appreciating every day so much more |

"When she breaks from the banality of Fab messaging and sends you a WhatsApp telling you that she's looking forward to the dinner date.

Absolutely Taking that leap from Fab to the real world is the most exciting part. Enjoy your dinner date Nero but you might want to skip the cartwheels ... you don't want to do yourself an injury before the big night |

I'm the opposite. I have to say for me, it's that time when the day is ending and the world is starting to quieten down. The sun is setting and everything starts to still ready for the night. I love going for walks at then. |
