When I watch the England footie team play I am always reminded of a girlfriend from Uni days, due to a lyric from the 1986 Billy Bragg song above.
The line is:
"How can you lie there and think of England when you don't even know who's in the team"
My G/F knew nothing about Bobby Robson's England, but tried to feign interest (possibly did the same with me and sex too).
Do you have a song that you associate with a former lover? |

I have a few, but one that brings happy memories to mind is ...
"Anything I Do" by Bryan Adams, and the theme to 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.' I was 19, just about to turn 20. I went to see the film with my boyfriend, who I had been best friends with since the age of 11, and lovers since 17/18. So, he was my first and the song was just everything I felt about him, and still makes me smile if I ever hear it now ??
Then there's the other extreme, where certain songs that, while they're not necessarily bad songs, I relate them to bad experiences with former lovers/partners, so if I hear them, they just make me want to vomit. Off the top of my head... 'Ride on Time' - Black Box ; Vienna - Ultravox; 'You're Still The One' and 'From This Moment' - Shania Twain ... to name just a few ???? |

Yes. I’ll never ever forget the women that songs remind me of. … and I’ve tried everything. Alcohol, therapy, hypn*sis….
^mods, it’s just a joke. |
