Somewhere In The Ether…

I like potatoes.

Do you like potatoes?

Did you know that there are some 5000 varieties of potato grown worldwide?

That’s amazing isn’t it?

Do you have a favourite variety of potato?

(My most boring title is secure once again!)

"I like chips"

I wonder what variety make the best chips?

I’ll wager King Edward’s; a venerable potato if ever there was one

Wilja potatoes. I've never seen them in a supermarket. They're grown locally and we buy them at the market

Bugger! I need to wear my glasses; I read that as Ouija potatoes and thought this was a previously unheard of form of divination….

New potatoes: Sadly I just can’t get my head around those (as lovely as they look with butter and mint).

They’re ok with mayo in a potato salad though although I need lots of mayo to disguise the taste.

"What time do you normally get up in the morning Sensual?"

I like to get up about five am to check on and tend my spuds; I then sing to them until 7am whereupon I have to leave for work but I think about them all day long

Try them with butter, spring onion, and pinhead oatmeal.

Nah OP, this is really riveting stuff.

I love baked sweet potatoes. Proper chips with mayo. Potatoes in tartiflette.

I don't really eat potatoes often though, maybe once a month.

I've now got some Hobbit music in my head so thank you.

Maris Pipers for chips and mash as they are more floury. And Jersey royals boiled drained and then sautéd in knob of butter and freshly chopped mint from the garden. Just had them so good.

They are nice and dead easy to make. Nothing posh about it. A bit like betty's hot pot without the meat

Originally from Peru, they've been a grand staple food for thousands of years. Saw a tribe cultivating some of the original species on a TV show a few years ago. They've come a long way since - gorgeous
