on the road to nowhere in particular

Completely out of the blue I have been asked by a friend to donate sperm.

I was shocked and flattered all at once.

Then came all the logistical problems, do I need a turkey baster, will they be there?

I haven’t even got to the intellectual and emotional complications yet.

What questions should I be asking myself?

Will you be named as bio father and possibly have a financial/hands on dad fulfillment for intended child?

Yeah na. Personally not for me as it would just be too much of a head fuck.

Theres loads and loads to think about and just too much for my pee brain to manage.

However if you decide to go with it then the best of luck buddy.

i know a same sex couple that did this, the sperm doner was then also included in the extended 'family' and the child knew them as their dad, but he didnt have any say on anything and wasnt on the birth certificate. It felt a bit strange to be honest. but suited them.

My first question would be to what level of involvement would be required? would you be on the birth certificate? there are all the financial implications that can go with that as well.

Is your friend part of a stable, long term couple?

The first question you should ask yourself is

How will I feel watching a child I have fathered being raised by other people, possibly not in a way I agree with?

I don't know if you have children already, if you do you already know that for most people being a father is much more than providing the sperm

It's not as easy as having a wank in a cup and passing it over.

All licensed clinics would make you go through various health testing first and not just for the usual std checks.

Chromosomes and Cystic Fibrosis checks amongst others are usually done too, hence the cost of doing it properly.

Donating it on the "cheap" could potentially lead to alsorts of issues.

Having done this just to be able to father my own child, I would strongly urge you to urge them to go through official channels.

There’s so many minute details involved in this kind of donation.

Off the books ‘donations’ are opening up a can of worms with no bottom to it.

There was a recent programme on a guy who'd fathered 100 children in the States. he knew most (if not all of them), was in as regular contact as he could with them, went on play days with them and so on. I think his name is Ari Nagel, though not 100%

Among all the other questions, I assume, if she's that good a friend, you would then be in this child's life forever, but not tell them the truth? That would be very hard.

Also, and not being funny, but why would she want 52 year old sperm rather than a younger donor through a clinic? Sperm quality declines with age, so she'd have a better chance of getting pregnant that way!

you need to look at familylawpartners known-sperm-donor

as theres a few things you need to consider first

whilst i find it 2 faced with egg donation to sperm donation

with sperm donation you can get chased for csa payments whilst the egg donation you cant.

im not going into both egg and sperm donation for a childless couple i believe that area could be a right nightmare to deal with.
