Good folks: How often do you bath your pooch/es?
Possibly you like to bath your cat/s? (You are a brave soul if so!)
If you have other pets, how often do you give them the spic and span treatment and what does it entail?

My dog hates a bath. I have to wait until it's warm weather and shampoo him in the garden using the garden spray thing. In between I use dry shampoo brushed through his fur. He has special stuff for sensitive skin and I always brush coconut oil through his fur and on his pads along with rubbing it on his ears and nose |

I have a French Bulldog
Bathed weekly with a specialist skin care wash as he gets itchy otherwise.
Ears cleaned weekly
Face washed daily because of the wrinkles and a special wrinkle cream applied to stop sores/sweaty face.
Suncream applied
Teeth cleaned
Foot balm applied to feet daily or they get itchy.

I am a dog groomer… there’s a reason I’m not a cat groomer
My short haired dogs get a bath maybe every 6 months, my curly coateds get a bath, blow dry, scissor and clip every 4 weeks on average with a simple bath somewhere in between. |

My ginger moggy gets his ears and face wiped over most days.
I'll give him a good wipe over if he gets dirty digging up my garden. He hates it, but still insists on getting muddy.
Bath every 3-6 months in flea shampoo. |

I like to give my pooch a bath every two-three months or so (unless she gets filthy in the meantime!)
She is prone to earwax though so I have to wash her ears out every two weeks which is a ritual she is not best pleased by and sits looking decidedly miserable throughout |

In the winter I end up bathing him quite a lot as he loves mud and comes back from almost every walk needing one!
Otherwise - notwithstanding any fox poo incidents - it's every few weeks, but he has to be groomed so they do it!

Many years ago I was painting the ceiling and my cat jumped in a 10ltr tub of emulsion. We're talking a complete dive, not tip of paws. Thankfully I managed to grab here before she ran off spraying paint everywhere.
There really was no option but to take her into the bathroom for a shower. I discovered how sharp those claws can be when she really wants to use them
On the other hand, a girl I play with occasionally has a bengal, they actually like water! Gets in the shower with us! |

Don't bath the present cats as they are young and good groomers. But we did have to bathe our elderly cat at least twice a month. He was good as gold but the problem was afterwards he would get so cold. I used to have him wrapped in a towel with a warming mat and under the duvet but until he was dry would shake from the cold. He was so good about it all. I miss the old boy as we lost him a couple of years ago. |

"I’d have a major fight (and mostly likely badly lose) if I tried to bathe my cat!"
Of the feral cats that have moved into my old stables, there's one that I definitely would not pick a fight with she sits there watching you pet and stroke the more friendly ones, but if you go anywhere near her she becomes a hissing ball of claws and fur. She has drawn blood on more than one occasion. |

Our present cats are part bengal and although they don't get in the bath with us they do sit on the lip of the bath and play with their paws in the water. They also like drinking straight from the tap. |

"...They also like drinking straight from the tap."
I was told/read that cats prefer running water. So I got a fountain for them, I also regularly put out fresh water...but they insist on drinking instead from a rusty old wheelbarrow, an upturned flower pot, a dirty puddle...anything but clean fresh water it seems |

We have a springer so he is naturally drawn to enormous puddles of sludge, standing water and streams/rivers/lakes, so he gets hosed down a lot but only a proper bath with shampoo every month. We were told by our vet for a healthy skinned dog like him anymore than that you risk removing their natural oils. |

"...I did read up on it and from what I understand it's not necessary..."
The 'house' cat evolved in the desert, unlike most dogs a cat's fur is not adapted to getting wet. Having said that cats can swim perfectly well, they'll just hate you for the rest of their lives if you make them |

I have six cats and they have a bath or shower as and when needed, I have dry shampoo and cleansing wipes for muddy paws. Generally I opt for showering rather than bathing my cats. My big long-haired Norwegian Forest boy loves the shower and happily just stands there getting shampooed and he knows when the cat towel gets laid on the floor he goes and stands on it to get wrapped up and dried off…he’s a star! |

I have 2 spaniels... they would happily bath daily in every muddy puddle and swamp they can find.
I usually make them go on the river when awful or hose pipe them .... the couple of proper baths a year |

We have a malamute cross that hates having baths and only gets a full one once or twice a year. In winter he will have regular leg/ paw showers though. He does love and need regular blow outs though. Thankfully we live in the country and there is nobody, who cares if we turn the lawn white and fluffy
Our beagle cross loves a good roll in whatever crap she can find and therefore has very regular showers and full baths |

I bathe my two goldens every other week
They do however enjoy mud baths so it is often considerably more
I shampoo wash them a couple of times a month |

"I have two kittens. I've never bathed them though. They'd claw my face off!"
I’ve got three cats and I wouldn’t dream of bathing. Quite apart from the fact they would claw my face off, they don’t need to be bathed. They just need an occasional brush. |

Our 3 year old cat went in the bath when he was a kitten, he is a bit wary around water now bless him, the other one doesn't like being picked up and never follows us to the bathroom, if I am on my own and leave the door open, she wanders in, looks at me and goes back out "mum, you are having private time, close the door!" |
