On a more sensible note, many people have an irrational fear, but not many have a rational one.

I used to think I hated snakes because of what I'd seen on TV etc, but after handling them (many different types both venomous and non), I can honestly say, they're great ( not as good as dogs as you can't take them for walks or play fetch with them)
