It's National Cheese Day today...

I know, I know, there's a day for everything, truly awful, marketing man's dream or scheme, capitalism is awful, millennials are the worst...

I don't care. It's cheese.

So... what's your favourite type of cheese? Cheese based/containing dish? What cheesy chat up lines would work on you?

Bring on the cheese. Just not any knob cheese, thank you.

My clear favourite is Brie.

However, Tom has inspired me to have some Jingoistic pride.

Cheddar is a great cheese let's be honest. It's got a wonderful flavour profile and is incredibly versatile.

Wensleydale, Cheshire and Caerphilly are also right up there. More A tier than S though.

Aged Gouda with plum chutney and a glass of port is quite divine. A chat up line is unnecessary at that point, I find. The shared indulgence is all that's required as a catalyst.

Epoisse is my favourite cheese to eat with bread or crackers

My favourite dish with cheese would be my home made mac and cheese with chicken and broccoli added in and cheese on top melted and crisped up under the grill so delicious. Cheese would be a decent mature cheddar.

Coffee allowed me to suck it down fast in the interest of needing to make a quick exit. With cheese, one has to linger around a bit longer.

Zagato! Okay, so I'm going to try this. Normally I make a roux and add an excessive amount of various cheese (I tend to favour Italian) but this sounds really good.

Mustard is perfect for cutting through the richness of cheese, such an underrated macaroni cheese addition.

"Cheesey Beano for breakfast

What's a cheesy beano?"

It’s toast topped with bacon, beans and melted cheese on top. It sounds basic but it’s nice lol

Minus the bacon that sounds incredible. Fuck it, cheese is good in a basic way as well - love a good jacket potato with excessive amount of cheese or a baguette with good butter and cheese all separate and eaten how I want.

Yeah, sorry about that.

Cheese is greater than Devon. Can't be helped.

Manchego with a wholemeal crackers and a chilli jam.

Halloumi on the bbq in kebabs with onions, peppers and mushrooms

Red leicster and caerphilly cauliflower cheese

Double Gloucester and beans breville with extra dbl glaws melted under the grill on top.

Marmite cheddar - just big fuck off chunks of it and a hefty glass of port

"Pair your cheese with wine and a pickle tonight.

Open to offers

See, this? This would work on me. Smooth, Pickle."

You and I are like magnets Meli. It’s inevitable.

Top of my list is Cashel Blue or Manchego

Bottom of my list, I think I had primula from a metal tube with pineapple in it once. Awful.

"I know, I know, there's a day for everything, truly awful, marketing man's dream or scheme, capitalism is awful, millennials are the worst...

I don't care. It's cheese.

So... what's your favourite type of cheese? Cheese based/containing dish? What cheesy chat up lines would work on you?

Bring on the cheese. Just not any knob cheese, thank you."

It's also BBQ week so what better time to get them both celebrated!

I'm a lover of blue cheese but any cheese will typically do (not the UPF blocks or the GMO rennet though)

I never knew it was national cheese day today! And I’ve had done! Doh!

I am not a fan of blue cheeses or ones with fruit/spicy stuff in them, I’m a plain cheese kinda girl! And actually it’s been forever since I’ve had a cheese board/cheese filled meal and that needs to be rectified!

I am so sorry Meli, I hate disappointing you, but I just don't like cheese! I'll have a mild cheddar on toast every once in a while, but thats as far as I'll go with cheese

Yes! If you're in Manchester any time soon there's a fantastic restaurant just outside called Brewski and they do the most dirty cheesy goodness... to an unimaginable level.

There's also Northern Soul. Best cheese toasties ever. Get some cheese in your life Booty!

Best British cheese is Coverdale - a sub variety of Wensleydale but with a rich creamy yet stronger flavour.

"Those awfully cheap. (Plastic) squares that masquerade as cheese at family bbq's.

You're really testing me on the not judging cheese choice.

Meli

Have you watched @clara_batten when she reviews american cooking recipes on Tik Tok (some of them have processed lumps of cheese that must be rectangles of 9" x 3" x 3" - classic

No. I don't want to view it because then I'll start hating people and I love people too much to pull a Coyote."

You won't hate, it's running commentary on cooking as she drinks a cocktail, ultimately ending with the words "Fuuuccckkkk orf"

One menu was a four cheese special, with one of the cheeses being a squirty one from a tube and another being Doritos!

There is no such thing as too much cheese. Please refrain from such blasphemy.
