Or Mac?
I’ve never owned or used a PC in my life and now the company I work for are trying to save some cash and make us all work on PC’s
Rather miffed about it to be honest! |

"PC because I actually like using software on my computer "
Yeah I’m pretty all my Adobe and video Applications were literally made for Macintosh but when you say software what is it you’re running?
I get it that people that play games need PC’s same for people that like to tinker and add parts and add those garish LED lights to their keyboards etc! |

You should see my set up; Led lit up tower, keyboard, mouse mat and even the table itself |

By "software" I mean all the open source free alternatives to things like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop etc that are PC-only & don't cost thousands of pounds
And there's nothing wrong with LED lights...It adds room ambiance
But seriously, I do software development and most of the mature, fully-featured utilities I mainly use are either PC based or PC only

I remember many many years ago when I was in secondary school, the IT dept used exclusively Apple Macintosh machines, and I mean the OLD ones with the whole computer built into the monitor.
And most of them had monochrome displays, only 2 Mac's in the entire school had a colour display.
Super Maze Wars on network play for those of a certain age old enough to remember
By year 9 though, the school chucked out all the Mac's and replaced them with Windows 95 PCs |

I get that, I can understand it if you’re running a unix/linux machine and a tinkerer but…stuff like Adobe and C4D are just so native…been reading on the forums about agencies that have done the move and it’s just been awful…having to have GPU’s upgraded year after year, windows crashing etc.
I got my Mac Pro a year back refurbed and was only £5k apart from upgrading the storage by several TB I won’t have do anything for a few years of adobe cycles.
Also using open source isn’t really a thing in the industry!

PC and Android. Only ever had a work iPhone and it was absolute shite. And the built-in redundancy kicked in precisely on schedule, after about 3yrs when it was replaced with a Samsung Galaxy that is an excellent bit of kit. |

PC all the way. I've always got on far better with keyboard and mouse, doing work or gaming. Since my late teens I've always built my own systems. The first one I built was back when I was training to be a electronics technician in the Forces. So it just become habit and I could just make things my way. Software was never a problem because with the kind of people I worked with someone was always able to hook you up. And some software just doesn't die. I still use the same Office 2007 and I probably continue to do so as long as I can. And screw a subscription based office package. If office 2007 stops working I'd just have to look at other alternatives to office (I only use it for household admin anyways).
My tower I've had for nearly 20 years. But like Trigger and his brush it's have many different builds inside (the long term value of a high spec tower). The current build and maybe the last (for my main household PC, we have a few) was done about 9 years ago. I was a dark time, I was very broken, off work sick and it was a simple project I could do to try take my mind off the situation. So in my broken state I dug deep and built to the higher end of what window 10 could accommodate (new to 10 having previously used XP). I wanted something pretty future proof. Not a sick build and just good quality traditional cooling but powerful. It was my first use of solid state hard drives (outside of work) which is something I could imagine affordable in the past (although I kind of miss the noise). I don't really game since my 20s and anything I do play on occasion is pretty old anyways. So it's still way more powerful than what I need 9 years on, so no need to change anything.
And yes I'm very aware I'm a bit of a dinosaur these days but that's OK with me.

Sounds like an amazing build…my current Mac has an M2 chipset, 60 Core GPU, 128GB of Ram and 6TB SSD hard drive with two 5k Displays |

I work in IT so we always use PC’s, we have Mac’s for testing and iPads etc for apps we develop. I also build my own pc’s for personal home use but my phone is an iPhone.
I’m not bothered by either in all honesty and they both have there pros and cons, I guess it really comes down to budget and need/ preference. |

To be fair banter aside, if I could get all my dev software for a Mac and I didn't need to sell an organ on the dark web to be able to afford one, I'd probably get one, just so I'd never have to see "installing updates" every single time I power my laptop on or off |

Apple is great for those who aren't computer Savvy and not really wanting to do anything other than Office work.
Many years ago, IBM computers were being used a lot and it was a real pain trying to get any other computer parts to work on them. Reminds me of what Apple is today lol.
All my working life, I've only ever used PC's lol. Why PC is used for Windows or other operating systems other than Apple I have no idea lol. Work for me was writing industrial software to Automate factories and machines. All the various software tools only ever used DOS through to the present Windows systems. The Apple system is very secure and as such don't work well with other systems so was left behind. Even writing simple VBA in Exel to extract information from various industrial computers is a total nightmare when it comes to Apple. |

I run a 500 pc windows network. For £5000 I can buy 5 top spec PC's that will do anything your Mac can do. All of the major (not produced by Apple) software is available on either platform. We have Adobe, SolidWorks, AutoCad, ProTools, etc... I have no problems with Windows crashing.
Both platforms are equally robust if they're setup and managed properly.
The biggest issue I have with apple products is their "Anti Competitive" nature, and the OTT pricing.

Maybe you can buy 5 word processors that can “run” the applications that’s fair enough, but after doing some research on the topic I’ve seen people running bench mark tests on Davinci Resolve, After effects and all manner of video rendering and image processing and even a £7k Custom Built PC doesn’t match the Macintosh hardware…let alone one you can buy off the shelf turn on and start work within half an hour!
Guess it’s all swings and roundabout really…do wish you could find a decent game to play on a Macintosh though…all work no play!
Actually I guess that sums it up Macs are for people that Work PCs are people that play! |

lol Not sure if its all play on a pc lol
I've rarely if ever enjoyed playing games on any device. For me it was all work and work that could not be done on Apple. Or it can with a lot of difficulty but only using a Windows virtual machine type of scenario. |

PC and Android here.
And Commodore to start with
I dont like the cost of Apple and always felt their OS make it unnecessarily difficult to tinker around a bit. Bit biased probably as only tried an iPad once and hated it.

You can tinker all you want you just have to learn a bit of Unix/Terminal and you can literally do anything you want! |

I think that generally, Macs are bought by Apple "Fans" and PCs are bought by people who don't care about the brand on the box.
As I said previously, both systems are equally capable... |

Mac. Always. Don't switch, as you will never be happy. I started a job where they removed the Mac and replaced with a PC, knowing that i had always worked on Mac. I left the job after 2 weeks. Horrible experience. Macs for life. |

PC I never really understood the Mac fascination. Usually it's some belief in the hardware being superior.
It's really not, you can build a PC for substantially less with more bang per buck. It's easily upgradeable and repairable.
I even prefer a Linux PC to a Mac. |
