........... time someone has 'borrowed' something off you?

My neighbour has just returned my jet wash after 3 weeks of nagging him that I wanted it back - he did have to jet wash his patio this morning before he returned it !!!!!

Oh he has had it since July 2023!

Whats the longest you have had to wait for the return of an item loaned? Or have they still got it!

In 2013 I loaned a TV to a colleague after hers went pop.

She sold it to her neighbour when she bought a proper new telly.

We're both pretending that didn't happen and that she'll return it some day. Part of me would find it really funny to message her asking for it back after all this time, but in fairness I understood when I handed it over that I would never see it again (she wasn't known for returning borrowed items. Or borrowed money, for that matter).

I lent a school friend a PlayStation game.

That was in December 1997, as far as I know he still has it

A Northern Soul double album lent to a friend in 1992. Spotted his wife selling it at a Car Boot Sale 3 weeks ago and I pointed out to her that it was mine and she gave it back to me.

Oh, I have a side table on indefinite loan!

Years ago I escaped a bad situation with very little and was trying to set up a flat with no furniture except what I could afford in charity shops.

My best friend's dad knew I admired a table he used as a phone table, and he sent my friend round with it as a loan until I got set up and could buy furniture I liked as well as I liked that table.

Over the years that followed I tried to give it back many times, but he would never take it back, telling me to hang onto it a bit longer.

He passed over 15 years ago and I offered the table back to my friend, but she told me her dad would've been happy that someone had it who appreciated it.

I still consider it as on loan rather than being mine though.

I had a new floor sander returned broken, with no offer for payment for repair or to replace

A friends wallpaper stripper once died on me - it was 20 years old or so, but i replaced it with a new one.. Its the right thing to do

Tell that to my brother, who borrowed a screwdriver set and returned it with the screwdriver tips ruined.

Just out of order to break summat then not own up to it.

Same... I fell into that trap too.

Too kind for our own good, eh?

At least the money I loaned my ex-husband is coming back to me. At £100 a month. I'll be dead before he pays it back

Cash I borrowed a, what I thought, long time friend a few hundred squid only for it to take almost 3 years to repay

I wrote it off due to bs excuses and ignorance and safe to say they’re no longer “friends”

And no it wasn’t just because of cash
