Reports from Shetland, made famous by the pony of the same name, that cruise ships are disembarking passengers who in turn cycle in groups of up to 50 in a long line making it virtually impossible to overtake and local Scottish Community Elders are furious. Why can't these buggers be more considerate of locals. What's going on here guys,? It's all over the news |

I very much doubt it.
It's so fucking windy up there be lucky to stay upright.
I think they should just stick to the all ages piano lounge drinking the complimentary margaritas and smush each other. |

It’s the same all over Scotland at this time of year. Charity ride after charity ride on the main routes into the highlands which are dangerous enough. The road up through Rannoch and Glen Coe is a feckin nightmare. K |

I don’t know enough about the ports around Shetland but I’m surprised that cruise ships are able to dock there? If they are, I’d have thought that it would generate a fair bit of income for the island’s tourist industry. It’s always a double edge sword, you can’t have tourists income without some of the inconvenience that having large number of people descending on smaller communities. Rough with the smooth I guess ? |

"Can't the passengers hire a rip off rate taxi, like they have to do on cruises everywhere else in the world?
Probably only about 4 on the island"
Do the 4 taxi drivers wear tartan on cruise ship days? |

Having lived there for a time i can see that this could be frustrating for folk trying to get around on their ponies but in reality it will only really affect a few days of the year, probably less than a dozen, so am sure that people will survive |

"There is an anti cyclist patriot going about putting bike wheels in cement
Is there any concrete evidence for this ?
Sounds like a mortarl sin to me."
Someone is looking for a concrete solution. |

Wow am shocked at how little knowledge anyone knows of shetland! I lived there most of my life and up there is far ahead of the mainland with everything. People are so ignorant of island life. Yes there is electric and WiFi etc!! Also have the richest island in Europe here which many may not know. |

Shetland is the most beautiful place to ever come to on a nice day but also a wild day is impressive too see. On the mainland a 60mph wind is a hurricane up there it's perfect for drying clothes on the line lol |

Yip … all correct what averageman says … he’s local as I am … 150 cruise ships every summer season … cruise ship bikers do slow down the traffic … better roads here than parts of the mainland… just need few more to be serious on the swinging scene instead of just lookers lol |
