Thanks it's appreciated I used to be a forum regular way back about 9 years ago but met a fellow forumite and we concentrated on eachother for a while she made more connections than I did.
Probably know my better as the male half of Doughnut and Danish but that profile has dissolved now |

I've said before that I posted regularly in the lounge for almost 18 months without a single reply or acknowledgement.
I had a slightly better experience in the Ireland forum and if it hadn't been for that I would have given up on the forums completely.
The very first acknowledgement I got in the lounge was from a couple who started a facepic Friday thread.
I did as asked and sent them a facepic and rather than send one in return in the spirit of their own thread they decided to tell me that I might be hot if I wasn't fucking Irish.
Is that classed as a welcome? |

The gorgeous dark haired girl from Wales. Can't remember her full username but the part was Angel. She wore her fringe covering her left eye. She was adorable.
The person who made me feel the most welcome is the beautiful GoodniteGirl. We formed such a strong friendship and she is my best friend on here. |

When I joined? No one. Not one single person. But over time you develop rapport with people.
The nocturnal thread was where I was initially welcomed (that’s the point of it innit?) as I was post 175 on a late night noc’ers and Nero messaged me to say hello and explain how the nocturnal thread worked and that I’d been missed off just as the regulars were locking up. I was so pleased he took the time to do that and was happy I’d been noticed in a small way.
Then you, mr pickle in one of your former iterations, would sometimes say witty things back to posts I made which pleased me greatly. And even though I’m south of the river by birth and you’re not, you are still kind to me.
When gatekeeper messaged me about my response on a thread he had started I was elated as I think he saw the comedy value in what I had to offer that day. I’m not so sure he sees it anymore tho as he now realises I’m from Croydon originally.
Mrs kinkycouple2020 laughed in an amused way at my suggestion for purchasing some boots from fat face and that warmed my heart altho I never did find out if she found any boots to suit.
Christmas and new year 2023 was fun with a few threads for those of us with no one to share time with in real life, so, many kind messages and sentiments were shared during that time by many other fab forum fabber dabbers.
I think changing my username to something inane (I’ve kept it, I like it) around Halloween time helped as it made a lot of people message me saying how clever that name is, again, it’s a good feeling. However I had no idea who was messaging me as loads of people changed their names and some cuckoos sat in the nests of others and I was super confused
So here endeth the story so far x

Yep I'm quite shit at being proactive in starting threads in the lounge. Being honest it's a little intimidating at times - no one wants to start a thread and see it ignored but think that's more me over thinking things than it is actually reality.

I don't really think anyone welcomed me, I just kind of dipped my toe in before just jumping into threads.
I'd say the ones who stood out from the start who spoke fondly to me were probably Nora and Posh & CuriousKitty250 for their photo challenges which really helped me get involved more |

We sit on the edge of the forum circle and only dip in and out.
But Meli was one I recall being lovely and also Diamond Cougar. Hippy and Midnight were ones I remember being nice too. Erect Jim was always inclusive and friendly
When I was first on as a single way back in around 2016, the forums felt like the Wild West at times - there were 3/4 who felt like they owned the joint or just talked amongst themselves on threads but I guess that’s a lot of people interpretation when you join the forums.

Most people here are absolutely lovely and I never thought initially that I will stay all this time. There are so many nice, kind and supportive people here. The forums mean a lot to me. I enjoy intetacting but also learning stuff, hearing opinions and building friendships too some of which can and have led to meeting some lovely people. The few who sometimes raise their ugly head are not worth another thought and often disappear anyway. I love the diversity and inclusion of this place when it is at it's best. And there is a lot of laughter too that we all need. It certainly is a nice escape like no other. |
