Are you partial to a good thumbing?

You know, this emote - .

Is it an older generation thing?

I do loads on work emails. Saves me having to reply and proves I've at least opened the email.

I only really use it when I'm agreeing with someone but have nothing to add.

Of course, It's Only Sunny In Philadelphia gives it a more dismissive meaning than that!

(Lovely new picture btw OP).

I’m not a fan. I find it a bit passive aggressive the way some people use it. I sometimes use it if I agree with someone and I can’t be arsed to type what I want to say

Thumbs up.

Sending ‘…’ constantly

Saying ‘ok.’

All things I’ve learned over time are just language differences between me and the older women I’m interested in.

Nothing worse than getting thumbed! Definitely seems generational. If someone older sends me a thumb I don’t mind but being thumbed by someone younger is the height of rudeness

See, that's one of the ways I read it. I don't like it.

Yes Nora you get it! I'm surprised given your many, many, many years but on the fora it's mainly used in a smug, self satisfactory I'm right end of discussion way. Irksome.

I use it occasionally for work, mostly to confirm or agree to schedules or meeting times. I’ve never used it to be smug or irksome… hopefully nobody reads it that way

I actually employ the thumb a fair bit in real life to; I grew up watching Top Gun one too many times maybe….
