Such a waste of resources

"Such a waste of resources "

I’d disagree.

Human spaceflight, particularly at large scale, opens up the rest of the resources in the solar system for our use.

Plus it gives us the means to avoid being wiped out by the same sort of thing that took out the dinosaurs

Totally agree. What is currently being achieved by SpaceX is probably one of the most important things we will achieve this century. Making access to space economically viable and turning us into a space dwelling species will dwarf anything we have achieved up until now.

Not only that, we also need another earth like planet to settle on because this earth is getting rather crowded and resources dwindling fast. It’s a matter of long term human survival.

Gone and completely forgotten.

Musk has never been up in one of his rockets. Stick him in the next starship test...

There are no other habitable planets in our solar system. The nearest habitable exoplanet is many light years away - which means *decades* of travel even if we invent a spaceship which travels at a significant proportion of the speed of light. I get grumpy on just a 10 hour transatlantic flight. And I like trees and rivers and (our) sunshine.

There is no new frontier - we have got to make it here. Satellites have brought many benefits, and can bring more. But human space flight is just a wasteful ego trip for our rulers - whether governments or plutocrats like Musk.

Nice Eagles reference slipped in there

All this Musk ego trip is doing is filling space with more and more debris

Coming soon: the rubbish tip on the moon

We should care for the people and other life on this planet. I know some medical tasks can be done in space but feel that our damage caused here is our priority for investment.

Yep, let's add more pollution and human fuckery into space. Another place we feel we have the right to be. We've done enough damage on our planet. We don't need to interfere elsewhere

No, just no.
