Oh no! I hope your pussy recovers
My dog is on antibiotics for an ear infection, he also has another infection that the ear infection antibiotics are resistant too so he's been prescribed some different ones....and of course they are more expensive than the Rilexene...my boy is worth it though x |

He'll be fine I'm sure, it looks like it might take longer to forgive me though!
What do you have? I'd love a dog but not practical being at work all day. Your treatment sounds expensive! It cost me £60 for the consultation. |

I hear you there, I work all day but my Daughter in Law is about so she pops in during the day to check on him and keep him company for a bit
I have a German Shepherd, big floofy thing he is and yeah, pets are an expensive business, he was first seen a couple of months ago for the ear infection, antibiotics, steroids, blood tests and sedation.
Same thing this time, minus the bloods and also swabs to the lab this time, which was worth it because we wouldn't have found the second infection. That's without his 3 monthly flea stuff and wormer on top. He is insured though thank god x
Hope the kitty forgives you soon, I am sure she will x |

Vet fee's are silly money these days. The hikes on prices are something else. 18 months ago consult prices moved from £28 to £35 last year, this year they are £55. It used to be half price for a follow up on the condition but they've stopped that. Same with getting an online prescription, it's more than doubled. |

I hear you, & insurance is a crock over the age of 7yrs.
OP I'm impressed you managed to get the cat in the carrier. Props to you. I have to sumo wrestle my dog to get eye drops in him ATM & he's barely knee high! |

Happily, never had any real hikes until 9 or 10, though with the increases in fees it'll get swallowed up should something need doing. |

My Vet is brilliant tbf, she rang yesterday with the swab results. The antibiotics (Synulox) my boy needs were going to be £400 from the Vets but £58 from Pet Drugs Online....Hell of a difference in price |

Aww yeah! German Shepherds are the best!! Sensitive creatures mind and It's a common thing if you have bat ears! I've also cut out wheat from his diet to help minimise anything that could be a factor |

Mines changed completely from what they were, everything is billed or you're booked back in for check on progress.
I'm finding more and more things are where they would have been given as advisory previous. Bloods as eg, (expensive in themselves), instead of giving results over the phone, you're booked in costing you a consult whether clear or not.
I understand vets can't keep all meds like warehouses but it's when you need them urgently that you just pay rather than looking up savings cost or them letting you know.
Even things like worming and fleaing, a worming tab is a few £, and flea treatment for the year is £70ish + prescription |

"Good that all he needs is a course of antibiotics!
My cat has a hyperactive thyroid, so blood tests every 3 months and 2 x daily thyroid medication.
She got big though "
Mine was having similar every day for two weeks. Initial bloods was a different price to repeat bloods but when needed again after few weeks as follow up, it was back to the original price, when queried it was dropped down to repeat test price but then a consult price was added on when it wasn't before. Annoyingly costly. |

Yeah the cost of blood tests for them is quite high, thankfully our vets charge the higher price initially than the lower one, don’t get me wrong they do a great job but some are deliberately price gouging |
