New Year Eve 1999
Jump to: Newest in thread
Played football on the beach near Wick on the North Coast of Scotland. BBQ and an enormous bonfire. Got pissed and talked shit with the lads all night. Crashed around the bonny at about 4am. Y2K didn't enter our thoughts. |

I was 8 months pregnant, wearing a full length body skimming, silver sequin dress, dancing all night at a family house party. It was a fantastic night! I vividly remember by sensible sister so d*unk and dancing the Britney Spears 'hit me one more time' routine!
I was hoping for a few extra days off work due to computers going crazy...never happened

"I genuinely can't remember. I had very young kids at the time so I was probably sitting at home with some prosecco watching the cock so I could go to bed at 12.05"

I was 19 naive and 10 stone wet at 6ft6 ( I had hair back then).
A group of us got tickets for the RubberSoul on Matthew St Liverpool.
Walked in and within half an hour I'd kissed to females (one got jealous ).
Really good night until we tried getting taxis home at 3am. Ended sitting outside a train station until 7am and able to get a taxi |

I went to a big party at my local pub with a couple of friends, one of whom was my ex. She introduced me to a totty she worked with who I then pulled.
At midnight I had two pints of Guinness, a chuffing great cigar and a big smile on my face.
It was a good night! |

I was out in town that night and remember it being wet and miserable and less busy than usual. On the plus side, no trouble getting a taxi! |

Went to London but ended up shagging in grave yard/memorial place at the end of the night, and then trying to squish onto the last tubes running was crazy due to all the people. Great night though and good to see it in with a bang |

Was at home as usual but did go away to India soon afterwards.
Unfortunately I live too close to Greenwich not to have been affected. Lots of 'temporary' road closures and parking restrictions came and never went.
I tried to create momentum for the completely logical suggestion that the year 2000 (trendily getting referred to as '2K') should be first celebrated in Le Touquet but nobody else could understand the connection. |

I was at Cream Millenium at the Pier Head in Liverpool - in a huge tent with loads of bands and DJ’s.
Orbital brought in the new Millenium with Chimes and I vividly remember thinking that it didn’t get much better.
Then went into the DJ tent and watched Paul Oakenfold and the Paul Van Dyk which were and still are two of my favourite DJ’s
The cost of the ticket was so expensive but I’m glad I done something memorable for it

Sounds like an awesome night. Only ever made it up to Cream Nightclub once in the 90's and it was definitely a night to remember |

NW London |
Central London down by the Embankment drinking and mingling. Was a good vibe, a crazy dr@nk Mexican guy shared his whiskey with everyone and watched the fireworks.
Was a good time, tubes ran all night, no tickets needed back then (much better) and no stupid "mayor of London presents" nonsense.
I do sometimes miss how innocent and different things felt back then.

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon |
Had a fantastic night working in a pub, despite my then boyfriend cheating on me with an alleged friend of mine... started the new century single and way happier! |

I was at a party in alexandra palace in London. There was food, music, singers, acrobats, fun fair rides and fireworks... it was amazing.
The company my late Hubby worked for laid it all on.
Then they went bust the following year making everyone redundant and pulling out of their sponsorship for sporting events so that wasn't great |

I was in bed with influenza, proper flu that can actually kill you if you're unlucky. Probably the sickest I had ever been up to that point. I do remember a god awful amount of banging going on from all the fireworks, fucking over my attempts to sleep. I don't think my fever broke until about 3rd January, and I wasn't anywhere near well for several weeks longer. |

Worst NYE Ever
*Went to some posh girls house party , at a town house in central London.
*Met this blonde with great legs, who invited me to a pool party across town.
*My mate didn’t wanna go, so I stuck with him.
*Her parents came home early. Saw the mess & forced us to clean the house |

We went out to Rock City in Nottingham, there were a dozen of us, and we all slept in the back of my old transit van in a multi-storey car park.
Being an IT guy, I had done Y2K audits and remedial work for several large organisations including a Council and an Airline, I knew that there was nothing going to happen as a result of the clocks ticking over.

I have a picture of it, like, the proper picture. I’m standing in my first tiny flat, holding my 10 months old son. I’m wearing white satin blouse, black trousers, my hair is short and dyed black/brown. It’s New Year’s Eve, and I’m celebrating with my late husband, my sister and her boyfriend. Probably the happiest days of my life. |

What splendid memories
I remember singing Auld Lang Syne with all the oldies at my Grandparents church party - weird, but also good memories. |
