What’s everyone’s favourite song lyrics? I have a massive list but love this song at the moment.
People in my life have always written me off because I’ve had some struggles but I’m always back proving them wrong
Around this town you've ceased to be
That's what you get for sleeping with the enemy
Where angels fly you won't play
So guess who's going to take the blame for...
My big mouth, my big name
Who'll put on my shoes while they're walking
Slowly down the hall of fame?
Into my big mouth, you could fly a plane
Who'll put on my shoes while they're walking
Slowly down the hall of fame?
Slowly down the hall of fame |

Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
Standing, stretching every nerve
I had to listen, had no choice |

"Right up there about a bully:
I was far too young to hit him, but I would hit him in a heartbeat now.
Great song. Great lyrics. Great future ahead of him." Sam fender is quality I’ve seen him a few times |

I also have a huge list but two I like
The more I sea, the more I know,
The more I know, the less I understand
And
you've been busy but you've missed me
And I've plagued your mind
You will never go outside
You will never go back to being blind
And
Sometimes it tries to kid me
That it's just a teddy bear
And even somehow manage to vanish in the air
And that is when I must beware
Of the beast in me that everybody knows
They've seen him out dressed in my clothes
Patently unclear
If it's New York or New Year
God help the beast in me

"I'm waiting for the calm as the storm is getting under my skin
I'm trying to fix the hole in my head where the rain gets in.
Always reminds me of what I felt going through divorce
" my favourite Noel Gallagher lyric |

Marty Robbins El Paso
Out In The West Texas Town Of El Paso
I Fell In Love With A Mexican Girl
Nighttime Would Find Me In Rosa's Cantina
Music Would Play And Felina Would Whirl
Blacker Than Night Were The Eyes Of Felina
Wicked And Evil While Casting A Spell
My Love Was Deep For This Mexican Maiden
I Was In Love, But In Vain I Could Tell |

Nice thread op. There are so many. Music is so connecting to emotions.. Two to start...
What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
And the disposable heroes of hiphorosy... Television, the drug of the nation. The whole lyric is ahead of its time but here's a sample
.
T.V. is the reason why less than ten percent of our
Nation reads books daily
Why most people think Central America
means Kansas
Socialism means unamerican
and Apartheid is a new headache remedy
… absorbed in it's world it's so hard to find us
It shapes our minds the most
maybe the mother of our Nation
should remind us
that we're sitting to close to. . .

The harems of Egypt are fine to behold
The harlots the fairest of fair.
But the fairest of all was owned by a sheik
Named Abdul Abulbul Emir.
A travelling brothel came down from the north.

There's been a load of compromising
On the road to my horizon
But I'm gonna be where the lights are shinin' on me
Like a rhinestone cowboy
Riding out on a horse in a star-spangled rodeo
Like a rhinestone cowboy
Getting cards and letters from people I don't even know
And offers comin' over the phone |

Pistol shots ring out in the barroom night
Enter Patty Valentine from the upper hall
She sees a bartender in a pool of blood
Cries out, "my God, they killed them all"
Here comes the story of the Hurricane
The man the authorities came to blame
For somethin' that he never done
Put in a prison cell, but one time he coulda been
The champion of the world |

"We’re all just walkin through this darkness on our own - The War on Drugs
I can’t get a life of my hearts not in it - Oasis
I could go on forever haha " I could go for a lifetime
I lost my faith in the summertime
'Cause it don't stop raining
The sky all day is as black as night
But I'm not complaining
I begged my doctor for one more line
He said, "Son, our words fail me"
It ain't no place to be killing time
I guess I'm just lazy

So many beautiful lyrics so many beautiful songs ! One of my favourites is. " If I hadn't seen such riches I could live with being poor"
And another..
" Don't let my fickle flesh go to waste , as it keeps my heart and soul in its place and I would love with urgency but not with haste ! " |

Dear Mister I'm-Too-Good-To-Call-Or-Write-My-Fans,
This'll be the last package I ever send your ass
It's been six months and still no word. I don't deserve it?
I know you got my last two letters;
I wrote the addresses on 'em perfect
So this is my cassette I'm sending you, I hope you hear it
I'm in the car right now, I'm doing 90 on the freeway
Hey Slim, I drank a fifth of vodka, you dare me to drive?
You know the song by Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight"
About that guy who could've saved that other guy from drowning
But didn't, then Phil saw it all, then at a show he found him?
That's kinda how this is, you could've rescued me from drowning
Now it's too late. I'm on a thousand downers now, I'm drowsy |

But you were weak and so am I
Let's pick it up, let's even try
To live today, so why not smile
Don't dream away your life 'cause it is mine, it is mine
Is that a crime, is that a crime, this life is mine
But the bed ain't made, it's filled full of hope
I've got a skin full of dope
Oh the bed ain't made but it's filled full of hope
I've got a skin full of dope

Severance
The birds of leaving call to us
Yet here we stand
Endowed with the fear of flight
.
Overland
The winds of change consume the land
While we remain
In the shadow of summers now past
.
When all the leaves
Have fallen and turned to dust
Will we remain
Entrenched within our ways?
.
Indifference
The plague that moves throughout this land
Omen signs
In the shapes of things to come |

Beautiful by Marillion:
Everybody knows we live in a world
Where they give bad names to beautiful things
Everybody knows we live in a world
Where we don't give beautiful things a second glance
Heaven only knows we live in a world
Where what we call beautiful is just something on sale
People laughing behind their hands
As the fragile and the sensitive are given no chance
And the leaves turn from red to brown
To be trodden down
To be trodden down
And the leaves turn from red to brown
Fall to the ground
Fall to the ground
We don't have to live in a world
Where we give bad names to beautiful things
We should live in a beautiful world
We should give beautiful a second chance
And the leaves fall from red to brown
To be trodden down
Trodden down
And the leaves turn green to red to brown
Fall to the ground
And get kicked around
You strong enough to be.
Have you the faith to be.
Have you the courage to be.
Honest enough to say.
Don't have to be the same.
Don't have to be this way
Come on and sign your name
You wild enough to remain beautiful?
Beautiful
And the leaves turn from red to brown
To be trodden down
Trodden down
And we fall green to red to brown
Fall to the ground
But we can turn it around
You strong enough to be
Why don't you stand up and say
Give yourself a break
They laugh at you anyway
So why don't you stand up and be
Beautiful. |

"I'm not singing for the future
I'm not dreaming of the past
I'm not talking of the first times
I never think about the last"
I prefer the last line of the next verse.
Now the song is nearly over
We may never find out what it means
Still there's a light I hold before me
An you're the measure of my dreams.
I told a past love that she was the measure of my dreams.
We are not together anymore ???? |
