Working for Sky Television installing Sat TV,
My Service area covered all Northumberland and the Scottish Borders - loved it, up early and up the road, nothing finer than seeeing the deer and badgers running over the roads at Elsdon on the way 'up the road'to Gala, Selkirk, Berwick, Cockburnspath ......
Loved the folks in the Borders as well - they couldn't give a fuck about anything - so long as they got their Sky Digital working . You could have fixed the dish onto their back door - so long as it worked - they didin't give a bugger lol. Salt of the earth |

I have made everything from hinges to cash boxes.
have dipped screwws for the army etc.
made great big hinges for bank vaults and even insulators for pylons....
One time working for a paper mill too, to dipping ball bearings for castors.
Ive done it all.
Then settled in catering as a cook for the top brass in industry.
The best job...........hmmmmmmm ?
nothing compared to what i do today, and working in health and social care.
first with learning difficulties and complex needs and now within a day centre .
fantastic !

My fave job was also probably one of the most heart breaking jobs in the world, i work in a rest home for terminally ill people for many years till i moved to dudley, wasnt old people it was anyone who condition was terminal, we had children with leukemia to adults of verious ages with huntingtons etc, of course that part of it was hard, seeing people you have cared for for weeks, maybe months pass away, and even harder when its a child but for me it was very rewarding, knowing your making a difference to someones life, knowing they are getting the best possible care towards the end, knowing your also taking the heart breaking and hard task of looking after them off family and loved ones, i know some homes in the past had bad names but ours was good and it felt good to be part of that |

I don't know how people get through the day with that job. I've worked on many hospices over the years, not as nursing staff, but even so if your there for any length of time you get to know and become friends with the patients. One cantacerous older bugger in a home near Barnsley, that swore at everyone but I got along with, was actually from Grimsby, so I used to take him a copy of the Grimsby Telegraph. Builders aren't supposed to cry, but they do when they're holding a paper and looking at an empty bed

I've represented civilian staff on military bases throughout the country. Air, land and sea...sometimes it's been hard concentrating on the case when all around you are dressed in uniform...hubba hubba |
