Many moons ago yesterday ha. When I started dating in boarding school in Kenya, it was the only way to communicate between sexes / dorms, and we used to have messengers nothing like old school romance.....

.

Would it surprise you if I said I have? Probably not.

I have. I was utterly besotted by her. Bewitched. She was in my theatre group and we dated and I fell hard. I'd pen her ridiculously ostentatious love letters with annotations and drawings and quotes from our shared favourite authors that reminded me of her. I'd scribble little love letters on post it notes and leave them in her textbook, her lunch box.

I find that some people inspire me. To write smut or to send them messages about how much I adore them.

And because it's a dying art form I have no shame in doing it. Also I'm a twunt.

I can recall sending love letters back in my teens.

This of course was back in the dark ages, before the interweb, when the only option we had was to put a stamp on an envelope and head down to the post box; bravely entrusting our words of devotion to the care of a bunch of strangers.

My command of the English language is horrible and I'm not very good at expressing myself at the best of times so the answer from me is.........no.

Oh yes! Writing love letters is so important! Even within a relationship. It's important to write down how I feel about him and pop it on a word document and send it to him via WhatsApp.

I sometimes look back at my love letters like a diary. How I felt about him early on in our relationship and how it's changed. We don't live together so it's just another means of expressing my love.

I should write him one for Valentine's Day.

Thank you my sweet Clementine, I've only just seen this.

My penmanship for love letters has waned somewhat but I'm now writing short sonnets with singleton stanzas, romantic musings and sensual soliloquies for the select few. For indeed only a select few can actually understand my ramblings and fewer still can appreciate them.

I may write one for Nic85 because she is one sexy b*tch!

Yes, at university to my then girlfriend at the other end of the country.

But they were on the irreverent side of love letters; full of love (she was great), but none of the mush. I hope. I dread to remember how awful they must have been.

I actually got ephemerally turned on when I called you a sexy b*itch.

In fact I'm going to stick my head above the parapet and do away with the asterisk! You are one sexy bitch. There I said it. And I've had no gin whatsoever. Cool, huh?

No but I once popped a Valentine’s Day card through the door of a girl who was medium ugly but denied it at school.

She lived across the road from me and I still remember her sisters for her when she opened the door and saw it on the door mat.

I think about her often

I have. To my girlfriend when I was at a low ebb in the army. She said it was Vogon poetry.

(My Vogon poetry skills are awesome. Just look at my "Favourite Things" lyrics on the "Raindrops on Roses" thread. )

I have sent love letter to 2 different women in my life,

One became my wife (now ex of over 20 years) and the other, should have been my wife but I made mistakes and lost her (again, over 20 years ago).

Now days I tend to send more smutty emails!

My first times falling in love predated the internet, and there was always some element of distance, so physical letters written on paper and sent through the post were always necessary at times.

It would be nice in a way to write love letters again, if I had someone to send them to who might appreciate my stumbling words and hesitant phrases while trying to express my emotions without sounding too crazy. I don't expect now to ever again commit to a deep monogamous love, but I do still feel love towards my friends, and if I ever find FWBs then it would be nice on occasion to write and send love letters.
