Considering Mr Knight, was asking everyone to lick his arse this morning, I thought my own look at me thread is okay,, and I haven’t done one for a long time.
So, There’s a dating app out there, which asks if you’d like a friend to be your matchmaker.
I’m actually very open to having a date, and it’s probably my preferred way of meeting somebody (rather than a hook up). But a long time ago, a girl who I met up with with told me she wouldn’t meet me because I was on the rebound from my ex-wife. ?? That’s now two year ago… how far did I rebound? Haha.
So with this in mind…. What are my pros and cons?! Does being on a swingers website influence and opinion? Would you date me?
*Woody hands microphone around the room.

"Never having met you in the flesh so to speak its hard to answer the "would you" part."
That’s it though? All dating apps require us to take a plunge with an online profile you’ve built.
The photos. The blurb. and that’s what we have to go off in these things. |

I don’t know you well enough to say so, but I believe being on a swinger’s site wouldn’t deter me just by itself. I hate the double standards though, I have been told I am not dating material because I am on here |

Even with a dating app...I may like the look of someone but until I've met them in person I remain neutral x |

OP of course you’re dateable. But only when you’re ready to be.
I was told by one of my friends here that I’m Undateable but definitely not unfuckable….
Was this true? No…
Did it make me cry? Also no.
I’m not everyone’s cup of tea. And I like it that way |

I have now realised that the concept of being dateable is not real. I've spent so long convinced I'm not.
I don't care if I appear good on paper or if the other person does.
I want passion, chemistry, that fizz of connection. The best friends who can't keep their hands off each other.
That's never going to be determined by stats, what your friends think, dating algorithms or hours of swiping. It takes a willingness to just get out there and go for it.
That, is what makes you datable

It sucks to be told you’re undateable. I’ve been told that by a guy before and it floored me if I’m honest. Fair play our dynamic didn’t work but that doesn’t mean it won’t work with someone (although eeeek that’s clinging to hope!!) - people should be way more careful with words. They hurt. |

I’m sorry to hear that. I try not to let people’s opinions or words affect me or stop me but sadly negative words do trigger my own self doubt and the little wee brain monster can be rather “oh look see, an honest person telling you what you already know, you’re unloveable, know it, know it, know it!”

I'd totally go on a date with you.
And of course being on this website makes a difference. I wouldn't date someone who wasn't happy with me continuing this lifestyle, and ideally I want to date people who are into the lifestyle. |

Ahhh right. Thank you., you see I’m not concerned about someone having to be in a swinging lifestyle already. I would just like a relationship that is comfortable enough to be open about talking about open relationships or nonmonogamous and exploring different sex.
So I am scared that being on this website, it’s already putting up barriers before you start. If that makes sense. Kind of a prejudgement.

Ok so I've met you and I'd probably go on a date with you if I was single if we met under different circumstances.
If I was ever to date again (Mr knight please don't dump me) I wouldn't date from fab.
But you are a genuinely decent guy Woody, some lovely lady will snap you up I'm sure.

Woody - I had the long version, but the shorter one works better.
I don't know if how you come across is closer to "actual Woody", or "Woody made by recent years".
My "feel" is that your marriage ending, and general confidence issues (spelling etc) mean we see "Woody made by recent years".
So I think "real Woody" would be asking himself the question, to women, much closer to "Are YOU dateable? What great things can YOU bring to my already great life?".
What I see with FAB Woody is "Please like me because I'm quite broken".
I think you're an amazing guy Woody, and I think you need to build yourself up to believe in that. Easy to say. Fucking hard to do.
And then you can find someone, or possibly poly etc, who cherishes your amazing as you cherish theirs.
The question isn't then "Am I dateable?". It's "What extra amazing WILL we make together?". |

Thanks Boo.
Woody - if (if!) you are broken, and you acknowledge it (not here - we're animals ), then you are fixable.
If you are broken and you can't acknowledge it, then you're unfixable until you do.
And if you're not broken at all, then I'm just a stupid cunt. |

I didn’t expect that. … that kind of cut deep, and quite blood close. But don’t you think your life experiences and people make you into the person you are right now? (I know this is going on a tangent from the thread, but that was interesting)
Thank you .

When broken, life experiences perpetuate the pain of being broken.
When less-broken-on-way-to-fixing, life experiences perpetuate having a fucking great journey and enjoying the ride.
Nothing's good or bad but thinking makes it so (you get a free Hamlet quotation from me ).
Fixing is fucking hard work.
Staying broken is worse.
FAF message? Well, a less-broken-on-way-to-fixed Woody would KNOW (inside) that he doesn't even need to ask. Of course you can.
But I'd rather you did the fixing thing than the quoting me thing.
